Yeah, I liked it that much. Great characters, creepy story, original ideas, clever dialogue, and good chemistry between the leads. Add in some random wackiness (the girl at the window and the real estate guy were awesome) and a smattering of black humor, and you have the kind of fucked-upedness that I crave. Those of you expecting a witty recap... I deeply apologize. I'm not good with reviews where I can't piss all over someone else's hard work and pat myself on the back for staying anonymous.

I had wanted this to be worse so that I could make a joke about it driving me to quit movies cold turkey. It's not a great joke, and it wasn't a great film, but it was interesting and I didn't know how far they'd go with what they were doing even though this was the third Benson/Moorhead film I've watched. After checking off a couple more I still think The Endless is their best but their desire to mix plots is intriguing.

A solid movie with too underwhelming mystery themes being dwarfed by the real interactions. The ending is too sudden and leaves too much to question and should have come out after the endless and be recut with a bit more.

Is this about the search for the Big Other, and the relation between existential and evidential methods of grasping it? Is it arguing that there is something death-driven about our addiction to stories with "satisfying" endings? Are the two French students stand-ins for French philosophy, transported to America only to find itself consumed by internal bickering? Such questions remain tantalisingly unresolved in this puzzle-like movie that happens to also feature good characters and performances.

For someone who doesn't do the drugs this Mike guy is too accepting of the spookadoodling at play here - no one can look the other way from horrors better than white people - some college essay trying to break out here about this being on a Native reservation.

This is another little gem I found amongst all those countless indie movies. I love the originality in movies, and there is enough of it in here to make shortcomings like amateurish acting or limitations of micro budget easy to ignore. Another thing that this film has is characters. Two main guys have great dynamics between them, the dialogs are very real and fun. French guy only shows up for a while, but stays in memory for a long time. A small, original horror film with a big heart.

Deliciously different. Moody but slow, teasing the viewer with a bunch of possible scenarios that will all lead to Bad Things, and then steering the whole thing in an enjoyably unexpected direction. That final scene had me cackling like a crazy person, putting everything that came before in a new light and starting an avalanche of intruiging questions that luckily won't be answered, keeping the movie stuck in my head for the last few days. Nice!

The first and most immediate comparison will be with Cabin of the Woods, not because of the setting but due to the meta "movie about storytelling" nature of the flick; but Resolution takes a more somber attitude than the goofy antics in Cabin of the Woods.
Overall, it's pretty dope.

A clever deconstruction of not only the cabin in the woods genre, but of narrative itself, defying convention at every turn. The horror elements are effectively unsettling, and the lack of definitive answers is surprisingly one of the film's assets. The central duo are memorable, with an especially hilarious turn by Vinny Curran.

It is very difficult to strike this tone. This is actually a really well put together film, especially within this budget. It is very well though and put together film. Very well planned and executed. It ties in greatly with The Endless, this one putting less out there, but some of the theories I read, like the 'being' being us, the audiance is amazing, until you watch the endless that is. Well it still could be us now that I think about it.. We always want an ending.

Boring as hell. I would have watched a film about a man saving his drug addict friend, or getting chased by bloodthirsty Indians or drug dealers. Or finding that spirits are changing the world around them and warping the fabric of spacetime. This film promised to be about any or all of those things but ended up as none. The writing sucked. A lot of the acting did too. Most scenes couldn't end quickly enough. Take some drugs, tack on a supernatural ending and say it was all part of the plan.

A fascinating dissection of myths and stories that starts with a stolid ambiguity, but ends sadly with an all too tired message about horror movies and voyeurism. The ending aside, this is an engrossing film that uses addiction as a ruse to delve into how we explain and understand unusual events. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable and the casting for the side characters is nothing short of superb. It's a well-shot, tense dose of realism with a wonderful surreal twang.

This movie turned out to have a lot more going for it than I expected. The trailer kind of made it look like "two guys spend an extended time in a cabin, they go stir crazy, then they go regular crazy, and one of them probably kills the other, but maybe that wasn't real at all!" In fact, it's a lot less generic than that. However, I can still see it putting off a lot of people, because it has a lot of ambiguous elements. I got kind of a Blair Witch vibe from it, but in my case that's good

Turned out to be such a wildly different film than I had been expecting that I had trouble reconciling what I thought was going on with what actually happened. It was quite jarring, but I can't blame the film for not fitting into my preconceptions. It was quite good, though. Sharp script, engaging performances for what is essentially two people in a room for most of the run time, and a clever deconstruction. I feel like I'll want to watch this again somewhere down the line.

...OK, where the hell did THAT come from? "Resolution" starts slowly but firmly anchored in personal drama, and then gradually turns up the feeling of impending doom, with a meta awareness not unlike "Cabin In The Woods" or "Rubber", but far more down to earth. I really liked this.

1st Benson & Moorhead film that I've seen and it's an interesting genre hybrid with elements of horror, drama, mystery & scifi. It's done on a small budget, but makes good use of the surroundings and has neat visual & audio tricks to maintain the uneasy atmosphere. The soul of the film are the lead characters whose dialogue feels real and kept me interested. The ending makes sense in the meta context of the film, but it also feels a bit underwhelming. Need to check more from this directing duo.

Does a pretty nice job setting up the characters. They get to have personalities and thoughts and the relationship between the two friends feels real (even if it's not entirely heartfelt at times). I also liked the creepy hints with videos and pictures and the slow build-up to horror. What really was the ending, because it just felt like... nothing. But also I knew not to expect too many explanations as I've seen other movies by these directors. Pretty nice overall, still.

I have seen a handful of other Benson/Moorhead movies before. So I am slightly underwhelmed with their debut Resolution, because they got much more polished with the other movies. The sci-fi elements work decently, but way too many questions linger afterward.

Resolution is a fantastic modern take on Lovecraftian ideas. The directors have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that committment to ideas and character can overshadow a lack of budget every single time.

A very interesting little film. It feels like there are two movies here, which is something I usually say as a criticism. However, the two movies that make up Resolution are both great, even if the ending doesn't totally hold together. The performances are full of energy and humour and the camera gets a lot of mileage out of the almost alien scrubland. Also, it's worth seeing without spoilers if you can manage it.

Kinda dug it for the most part, but...it leans too heavily on the personification of audience while patting itself on the back for doing so, as if a thousand films hadn't done it before and much more subtly. The main source of tension for me was wondering when the characters were gonna turn and look at the camera. I don't know if that was intentional, but it was kinda fun, especially in the bit with the mirror. Anyway, everybody please watch The Tenant.

to much for me to say here about how surprised i was about how good this is. The plot summary most definitely does not do it justice. Seams to clearly be a low budget production, and despite that, it delivers.

For the most part character and dialogue driven, and those are crap so I was bored as hell. Then it seems to want to get scary, but for lack of budget or whatever, it tries to do so by way of an awkward deconstructionist gimmick.

I'm not so sure this can be categorized as horror. It's more like supernatural suspense. The movie keeps you teetering on that edge so very well. The 2 main characters are virtual unknowns, but you'd swear you were watching as a voyeur and not as a movie viewer. Good freaky little meta movie that doesn't disappoint. Still thinking about that ending.

Very clever deconstruction of the relatively new "found footage" genre as well as a number of horror movie tropes, Resolution is genuinely & intelligently self-flexive while a B-picture like Cabin in the Woods was just playing around & mostly self-congratulatory. But, like many in the genre, it's not paced well, & the faux-realist banter is pretty tedious. Or was that just another route to autocritique? Regardless, these directors are ones to watch.

This movie actually works well as a buddy comedy/drama, even with the elements of horror thrown in. It's hard not to like Chris and Michael, and I found myself rooting for them even though I knew that they probably weren't going to get some Hollywood happy ending.
