REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM is a discourse with Noam Chomsky on the deliberate concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a select few. Through interviews filmed over four years, Chomsky unpacks the principles that have brought us to the crossroads of historically unprecedented inequality - tracing a half- century of policies designed to favor the most wealthy at the expense of the majority - while also looking back on his own life of activism and political participation. Noam Chomsky is like a cozy Grandpa, but this good night story is for adults, and Red Riding hood has been replaced with the story of why everything is inevitably going to hell so fast. Can we leave the lights on for tonight gramps pleeeease?

Chomsky summarizes the 10 key takeaways for any emerging nation if they would like to wear the democracy banner, but keep the balance of power in favour of a less-is-more form of leadership (looking at you Bashar). With such a system now legally instilled in the US as Noam outlines, it would be quite hard to topple. As such, I was interested in what positive liberal closing message would be presented, given how bleak the introduction was. Well, there's the setup..check it out.

Not as deep or well supported as it could be, but thought-provoking.

Very good documentary with a superb photography. Unfortunately, because of its short running time, it sometimes presents only superficially Chomsky's thoughts.

Very good. He summarizes the state of the world point by point. Though he paints a dark picture, he also reminds the viewer that the world has been and can be changed by the constant efforts of ordinary people. It's a very decently produced documentary as well.

Everything that is said and shown in this movie makes perfect sense and is of high interest. However, it is missing something from the movie making art - it is shot deadly boring. And, the perversity of the cameraman focusing on a stringy hair jumping from the side of professor Chomsky's nose, is clearly a manifesto against screenplay's flat inspiration - an act of a hopeless charity in order to save this movie's honor.
