A punk-rock/horror musical? YES PLZ! At times I saw little attempts at german expressionism and chiarascuro lighting, which pleased the film nerd in me. Some elements of the story borrowed a bit from King Lear as well which, while somewhat trite, was also admirable.

What was that that Maynard says in that one song? Oh, oh yeah: "Pay no mind to the rabble." People who love musicals are going to love Repo and its satirical nature. The dark and twisted world of the Zydrate-addled, surgically transformed "future" is just as addictive to those who watch it with a mind for musicals as the cosmetic surgery is to those who walk the streets in REPO! The Genetic Opera. I loved it.

Horror rock-opera about an evil Genetics company set in a dystopian future. Some of the production design and costuming is quite interesting, but that is where my praise ends. The music in this film is interminably awful stuff...repetitive, mid tempo electro-garbage. The singing is even worse, an awkward combination of operatic voices and harsh, unmusical speak-singing. The lyrics are totally obvious cringe, and there is a distinct lack of vocal melody throughout. Avoid.

Umm, as a fan of Rocky Horror Picture Show, campy movies, dumb movies, gory movies, and movies concerning the convergence of genetics and technology (I'm just making shit up at this point), I'm certainly not unwilling to enjoy this musical, and I really wanted to, but the most obvious problem is that the music is kind of bad. Really bad. So bad it basically ruins it. Also, the bloom effect is bad. Really bad. Mostly mixed feelings, but definitely entertaining if you're the right kind of person.

Just splendid eyecandy. Unfortunately the story did not carry the plot too far. And shame that Tarja Turunen, the ex-lead singer of Nightwish, was not included. Gets very close to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I hate musicals and Paris Hilton, and this film has both. Why did I bother seeing it? Because the plot is original, and the music is quite heavy and Metal/Industrial laden. Repo! is a futuristic story about a company who repossesses organs with the help of Repo men, and what happens to one of them. The cast is fantastic, and who knew some of them could sing so well? There was enough gore to keep the horror fan in me happy and enough heavy music to bang my head to. Rent or buy this if you can.

I really loved this film, start to finish. Lots of names I had never heard of before and a few that I recognized (Alexa Vega got super hot; look up Machete Kills). Every character had numerous flaws save for Shiloh, and there was a variety of musical numbers; Pat Benatar even makes an appearance. The story ends in tragedy, but it is a great one. Love, anger, deceit, vengeance, gore, humor and Zydrate!!! Zydrate comes in a little glass vial!

Over the top and totally gory and cheesy in a gothfest kinda way, but having Anthony Head go from sweet to monster and back again (oh and that marvelous singing voice!!) is a delicious treat.

A failed experiment, but amazing this got made given what appears 2 be fairly pricey production-design, as well as a target audience that appears2 b composed entirely of Goth teens (into opera!) If this is anything2 go by it's pretty easy to see y opera has gone out of favor. Instead of clever lyrics or actual songs the narrative is almost entirely driven by characters who "sing" EVERY single line of banal, expository dialogue while solidly indifferent backing instrumentation plays behind them

Picks up towards the end, but the build up is soooo disjointed and leaves dangling threads. The songs are badly written and repetitive for the most part. this COULD have been good, a good idea in smart hands is under this mess, but it never got there. Ironically it also tries too hard to be cool. And the actors playing the sons should probably never work again. At least until they've taken some lessons in acting

While it's easy to see the potential in such a movie, this film is just not all the way there. It falls so short, I'd call it downright bad. Its games of format are won by no one and after watching the film, I can't recall the tune to a single song. There are some sonically pleasing harmonies and some funny bits of imagery but for the most part, it's a bunch of fake clever glop with too much color correction and a contrived story.

The art direction on this movie was really, really interesting; unfortunately the plot and music were completely dull, and not even redeeming performances from Head and Sorvino could save it. Worth watching for the visuals, but not for much else.

This B-movie has all the elements to achieve cult status. It manages to blend cheese and gore well. It has catchy tunes. And its plot is supported by a memorable artistic atmosphere and design. Moreover, like many cult B-movie, it has a myriad of flaws. The acting is mediocre, especially considering the cast. The inconsistent script is also problematic, and the film is under-produced. But, with all its flaws, Repo! Bad Parenting, is a silly, enjoyable musical.

Musically, this is one of the best musicals I've seen/heard (Evil Dead: The Musical is better, but that isn't a film, so...). The film itself didn't really hold my interest, but there's enough good stuff here to justify a watch. I can, however, imagine this working better on the stage.

Repo! The Genetic Opera is a fascinating little film, one that is not for the faint of heart or those who want an easy watch. It's a musical-horror mash up, and it's absolutely worth seeing just to see how it all plays out. I liked the music, I liked the campy nature, and I enjoyed the majority of the time it played. It missed a chance to be something more, something deeper, but I can't fault the film for having a narrower scope. Check it out.

Futuristic rock opera (starring Anthony Stewart Head, Sarah Brightman and... Paris Hilton!?) that tries way too hard to be a Rocky Horror-meets-Saw cult classic. Looks good if you're into the Tim Burton thing, and it's hard not to admire the sheer audacity of it, but suffers from lack of humour and crap songs.

Interesting concept - poor execution. Digital video with saturated color palette might be stylish, but doesn't look that great. Plot is simple, and some of the songs laughably bad. Paris Hilton once again acts herself, i think, but her performance in sex tape was much better, in my opinion.

It's nice. Some of the songs are very creative while others just seem to fall into a loop after a while. The plot is pretty solid and good enough but the film is not very rewarding. It doesn't really leave you with a finished feeling. For the REAL metal/rock fans this will be a disapointment as there is no heavy rock in it. amusing rocktunes and some metalriffs are to be found though. The horror port and gore of this film is nothing special, but the lack of that actually makes the movie better.

Man, I don't know how to feel about this movie. On the one hand, it had some fantastic numbers, and I love Head's and Vega's, as well as a few other performances, but on the other hand, it had some horrible performances, was overly violent at parts, and some of the lyrics were just flat-out lame. Still, worth a watch or two, maybe even an own if you don't mind some gruesome violence.
