Repeaters

Repeaters is Ground Hog Day if it weren't a romance comedy. In Repeaters three drug addicts in rehab begin repeating the same day over and over again. Where they initially felt trapped, one of the group begins to see their repetition as an opportunity to for the greatest high: robbery, rape, murder... A very, very strong re-imaging of Ground Hog Day; albeit by failing to redesign the ending for this film; Repeaters ending did fall short of it's beginning and middle.

Remake of a Bill murray movie, only this one was depressing rather than funny because none of the jokes worked.

The time loop and the characters' predictable descents into nihilism (and back) are sloppy and exaggerated, and in fact, the best section doesn't actually occur until after the day stops repeating. The two climactic scenes, where the action, plots, and ideas converge, are quite wonderful. Unfortunately, a great ending can't completely transform a subpar rehash of Groundhog Day featuring less likable characters into a great movie.

Three characters in the midst of rehab have reached the dreaded "ask the people you hurt for forgiveness" day and it goes badly for each of them. Then... Groundhog Day. None of the characters are really all that likable, but they have grossly exaggerated arcs. I didn't like it that much until around the 45 minute mark, and even then it is barely passable.

Actually the story was not that bad than I thought in the first place. I wanted to see what new they invented for 12:01 PM variation and they made it a purgatory. Amanda Crew was fine, but the strongest actor was Gabrielle Rose with deep and meaningful eyes. She has not to say anything to look good. Thanks Gab.
