Sheila Page, a Broadway star, shoots Barney, her murderous husband on New Year's Eve. She flees her apartment and goes to her Producer, John Friday. When she arrives, it is New Year's day, a year earlier. A real fun genre exercise. Love the eerie weirdness underneath the whole thing. Love the meta-ness of parts. So early for such a thing. How timing and coincidence interacts with the fatalistic nature of noir.

I feel it's more the idea than the execution that makes Repeat Performance (1947) such a unique experience. Grows increasingly darker and I loved how Louis Hayward character transformed with the change in choices. Wasn't always drawn the to the story, but like with so many others, it's one I appreciated.

It's funny, in the play-within-the-film there is a problem with the second act. The second act of the film, which is where they put on the play, is the weakest part of the film. How meta! The beginning and the end however is a nice addition to film noir fatalism lore.
