Renegade Trail (1939) is the last Hopalong Cassidy film to feature George 'Gabby' Hayes. And here he's already branched out from the gang as sheriff of a small herding town as Cassidy & Lucky pay him a visit... and naturally help the old bugger out. For there is a nasty convict (Russell Hopton) on the loose joining the local cattle rustling gang stirring up ill feelings, and that brings the usual positive Hopalong Cassidy experience, creating as much excitement as they can in less then an hour.
