Reign of Assassins

Very good. Great sense of style, some great action sequences and The Magician (even though he wasn't in the movie a lot I loved him). The only thing that gets me is that the movie is just about the guy wanting to get his penis back. I shit you not. I mean... what? Really one of the only actually dumb parts of the movie, so for that the movie actually drops a little bit. But the rest of it is worth your time. HIS PENIS.

Highly enjoyable kung-fu nonsense. The editing is a bit choppy and the first 30 minutes didn't work for me, but I soon got drawn in by the cool battles, colorful characters and slick looks of it all. The motivation of the big baddie is hilarious, but I'd probably do the same thing in his position.

The Asian Mr. and Mrs. Smith; karma love life and kung fu killings ensues. All seems to be well. Alas, two halves of an old Monk's remains must be found, if you want to rule the Kung Fu Universe! - And who doesn't?! Close on their trail is the old Eunuch master, aka an imperial subordinate; The Monk's body can help him regenerate a penis. Crafty little thing...

Ruined by confusing editing and a stupid, cheap and hard to follow plot. Its action scenes are cool (albeit long and a bit tiring) and it could have been a reasonably enjoyable film if it were a half hour shorter and more coherent.

I agree that the fights scenes would've been better if they were cleaner with less cuts and edits. Overall it's a pretty good fantasy film which was unable to become great due to the fact that you can't really see most of the action too well. That said all of the actors did well with a special shout out to Barbie Hsu who was a devious delight. The subplot of the lovers was also a plus. The fact that most of the actor voices were overdubbed didn't distract from the story as much as I feared.

This is an ok martial arts/period Chinese action/adventure film. It features choreographed sequences reminiscent of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' (a little bit 'The Matrix'-y), though the quality of some visual effects is a bit disappointing, i.e. not entirely realistic. The plot is a little thin but its got some good moments. I wouldn't especially recommend this film as such, there are better alternatives, though its watchable enough to pass time, its just not one of the most memorable films

i started not very interested but it grabbed my attention with sweet choreography and acting and a lovely story that i ended completely mesmerised by it. top class kung fu film
