Written by J.J. Abrams, who was filled with so much regret having written such a nuanced character that was rich with depth, that seven years later he would help write the least subtle movie of all time, Armegoddon, and never, and I mean never, look back again.

This film was interesting in that it posits bullet-induced brain injury as a successful treatment for self-absorbed yuppieness.

Big name director and actors make a well-meaning, seriously boring tv-movie.

If you want to see a movie about paraplegic people learning how to do shit, watch Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Horrible acting and blatant stereotypes. The black PT made me want to set him free from the Man or something.

Harrison Ford is such a great actor. He goes from being a total dick that you hate to someone that makes your heart bleed. That, and the fact that he was Han Solo AND Indiana Jones...

Behold: a male weepie. It works, believe it or not. Thank you, Mike Nichols

I'm assuming this was a Lifetime movie from 1981.

An insufferable cheating couple has to deal with the husband being shot in the head by John Leguizamo sounds like it would be rough ride, but this couldn't be any more saccharin. There really isn't enough time spent before the incident and then everything is pretty easy following the incident. Nichols directs a pleasant movie but it doesn't rise above that.

I was really hoping the climax was going to be Henry donning a top hat and bellowing, a lá Peter Boyle, "Putting on the RIIIIIITZ!"

Sappy, but it does its work for something of its genre. I watched it while doing some work, so the slow pace didn't bore me since I was busy, and I could follow what was happening without needing to be glued to the screen

A cheesy but mostly sweet little character drama that, as others here have said, feels basically like a TV movie escalated by Harrison Ford's star power (and a cute puppy).

A wonderful film that revels in how nice it is, featuring no extraneous plot elements, just a simple case of a man regaining his memory. It uses unforced sentimentality to reaffirm unchallenging traditional values, but is far more tasteful than nauseating due to some wholesome and enjoyable plot-points. Who would've thought such a sensitive character-driven film was written by a young JJ 'Jeffrey' Abrams? And who would've thought Annette Bening was once an absolute stunner?

J.J. Abrams' potentially banal Lifetime-esque script is made genuinely moving by remarkably likeable performances by Ford and Bening and sober, subdued direction by Nichols.

great little story about how it's never too late to change the way you look at things. Even if it's because you got shot in the head.

The shooting of Henry is still surprisingly nasty for such a small scene, and the rehabilitation starts out interestingly enough. Sadly, Harrison Ford is not the best dramatical actor in the world, and the black and white approach to the story ends up having a somewhat 'Hallmark'-feel.

Mike Nichols on vacation from urbanity, sunning himself in Squaresville: "a long, tough rehabilitation" -- a road billboarded with triumph and insight -- after a high-powered Manhattan attorney stops two bullets in a convenience-store holdup. Getting an initial boost from a jiving, high-fiving black physical therapist, he has to start "from scratch," learning everything anew: how to speak, how to walk, who his wife is, who he himself is. Part-Kaspar Hauser, part-Big, and all wet.

I can't really watch this one again. It's a good movie, for a guy with a Ritz fixation, and probably the best acting Ford will ever do. But it's slow, painful, and a bit pitiful.

What are the odds, I don't remember very well this film about loss of memory... but I think my impression was that it was in the "okay" area, certainly not bad.
