Maybe I expected too much given its camp classic reputation, but I found this really boring, and the terrible sound quality doesn't help. Not enjoyable, even on an ironic "so bad it's good" level. A historical curio at best.

Terrible in every way, and a sound quality that is so fuzzy it begins to sound like Charlie Brown's parents. There was one upside, I now know that marijuana will destroy my immortal soul.

Welcome to my "N/A" score, Reefer Madness, since I have absolutely no idea how to rate movies like this. Reefer Madness is too terrible to function as a propaganda film, too repressed for exploitation, and too boring for comedy. That poster is pretty rad though.

Definitely in the running for the campiest film of the first half of the 20th century. And definitely the most watchable of the sanctimonious older style of exploitation films.

RiffTrax 50. Not sure I'd have survived the film without their commentary. Hard to believe this was meant to be taken seriously originally (before the exploitation edits). Silly courtroom logic. Fav scene: guy snaps at gf/wife and RiffTrax guy commenting that MJ is supposed to make you mellow.

Boring exploitation anti-marijuana propaganda movie. The film serves as an interesting time capsule of the early war on drugs more so than an old time so-bad-its-good movie. Has a few laughs hidden in the terrible if you can sit through the rest.

I don't know whether to rank this highly since it's hilarious it was created, or lowly because of how poor the actual movie is so it gets a round 50.

Amusing exploitation film that does more to mark the drug culture's place in 1936 than it does make a decent film. Watch the Rifftrax version or else you'll get bored with it pretty quickly.

Thankfully brief. A few amusing moments, but I think this was more entertaining for the repressed folks of a bygone era, where their own imaginations would run wilder than what we actually see on screen.

There is a lot of unintentional comedy here but not enough to sustain for an entire runtime. It's not just that: it's dated, the message is awful, and it seems to be a PSA first and a movie second, it's that Reefer Madness is genuinely a terrible film.

While it's no 'The Wire' or 'Juvenile Court' (the brilliant Wiseman film), as far as propoganda goes about the 'evils' of illicit drugs (in particular the impact on youth) this is not bad at all (which is not to say that I agree with the messages of the film, but that the messages conveyed do come across in a powerful way). It's important to remember that public service announcements need to be judged within the times in which they were made. This is certainly not without cinematic value.

I'd like to say that this absolute mess is so-bad-it's-hilarious, but that's not the case. There are a few laughs here & there, definitely, because of just how mind-numbingly inaccurate & stupid the entire thing is, but for the most part it's just a boring 60 minute commercial that feels like 90 minutes. The acting isn't good, the production value isn't any better, the plot is as dumb as it gets. It's worth a look for the glimpse into the time it provides, but not for anything else.

Watching this high made me quite paranoid, it makes such a convincing and hyperbolic case against marihuana. I don't know why it needed all that story and characters, but at least that was at moments entertaining and revealing of the times. Though if this was just an hour of saucy ladies from the '30s smoking joints, then I wouldn't complain.

It's fun to make fun of people who try to prove something that everyone(?) knows is a lie. Some of the bad acting is hilarious. However, I think Dave O'Brien (Ralph) did a great job as a insane guy. For me he is a real highlight of the film. Some nice visual effects too. Watch colorized version high, you'll have fun.

Eerily like Blue Velvet in many ways; the high woman screaming when a man beats another man to death while she laughs inbetween beatings is disturbingly funny. [Rifftrax is somewhat of a letdown. Much like on Plan 9, they seem to be taking the easy way out by letting the film speak for itself.]

Before the advent of video, the film that put early exploitation movies on the contemporary camp map, theatrically revived by New Line Cinema in the '70s, enjoyed a wider cult audience than all its sleaze-bijou brethren combined. Though homevideo's ongoing exploitation explosion -- made possible by archivists like Sinister Cinema, Something Weird, Rhino, and Kino -- has placed this in a wider context, the pic still holds up as one of the most absurdly entertaining of its kind.

I was conflicted on whether or not I should give it a rating on quality or unintended fun. Following the Plan 9, worst movie ever precedent, I will have to rate it low, but it's very fun. It's the type of movie that you need to watch with friends, because it drags. But the payoffs are worth it.

It's madness! Don't get mad at me, the director must be a sneaky bastard who was getting a shot in the set. Pretty boring itself, but I believe this one and some similar wasp ideology movies paved the way to mockumentary genre, so it is still important as a predecessor.
