This spooky reimagining of the classic dark-woods folk tale stars Amanda Seyfried as Valerie, a village girl who's confronting a tumultuous romantic situation when a legendary werewolf slaughters her sister. Valerie enlists the help of a veteran demon hunter (Gary Oldman) to destroy the creature, but as each cycle of the moon brings fresh deaths, Valerie begins to realize that the murderous beast may be closer to her than she'd ever dreamed.

I was dragged to see this movie, the people I was with refused to see any good films. They wanted to see either this or The Beast, and both choices sounded awful. Everything about this movie is terrible, the plot, the acting, and the pacing. Don't see this film, please.

An aggressively terrible film. Blog quality writing, high school quality acting, ludicrously awful direction. Hardwicke can't even manage B movie quality, crafting something so awful that its only redemptive quality stems from how ripe it is for mockery. Unless Rifftrax gets around to eviscerating this, I would give this one a wide berth.

A Gothic fairytale created by a team of middle managers, this is nothing more that a checklist of features needed to sell tickets to the Twilight demographic. A nameless medieval European village full of beautiful all-American teens with flawless makeup (including the boys), the worst dance party since The Matrix Reloaded, buckets of teen angst, terrible acting, woeful CGI and an ending so bad it makes the previous 80 minutes of mediocrity seem like high art. Utterly soulless.

Contrary to other people, I actually liked the end the best. It's still terrible, but at least it was remotely connected to the tale, unlike the rest. Hardwicke, I don't know what to say. You aren't a talented director. In fact, you have no talent whatsoever. Perhaps you should take up painting. At least spare us from future atrocities like this one. Thanks. The soundtrack was OK, and Oldman was effortlessly acceptable. Unfortunately, the few good qualities are drowned in mounds of incompetence.

I was pleasantly surprised. However, I have to admit, using the bones of the red riding hood story, was a bit... Pointless. The plot is strong enough without it. The movie has other good bits - whodunit part, love stories, drama, twists. The main negative is Amanda Seyfried's numb, emotionless face.

Red Riding Hood is a pretty decent film that has decent plot, good acting, great backgrounds and some good little references to the fairy tail. Now, it isn't a perfect film, as the characters had issues, the plot at times and other things. But as a whole I sorta enjoyed it. Plus the ending was cool.

I watched this out of morbid curiosity to see of it was as bad as the book. It was, but in a different way. In the book, you got some kind of background for everything, even if was stupid. Here dumb shit just kept happening for no reason, except for when it happened because of teenage hormones. Also, either no-one could act or Hardwicke couldn't direct her way out of a paper bag. Since even Oldman was absolutely awful, I'm leaning towards the second explanation.

Red Riding Hood is a movie of a sort that I would very much like to see if anyone could make it, which is another way of saying that it is not that sort of movie at all. A real Hollywood fairy tale is the rarest thing in the world. Hollywood is more comfortable with myth and legend. Partly, I think, it's a matter of scale: Mythology provides the sort of sweeping, epic scope that lends itself to big-screen Hollywood feature filmmaking. Fairy tales are smaller and more intimate, and require a li

This horrible film doesn't know if it wants to be scary, a wanna be folk Twilight, or a supernatural Brothers Grim romance flick.it makes Gary Oldman a more than unbearable villain and Seyfried as a smart dizz. Hardwicke I hate all your movies for now on and I thank God in my prayers you're not doing Maximum Ride

Truth be told, in spite of the negative criticism and rather low expectations, I was sort of pleasantly surprised. Sort of. Suffers from a lacklustre plot, a few pointless twists and events, and a clichéd love triangle which doesn't add much to the story. But I actually think they successfully conveyed the mood they were trying to convey. It did grab my attention. I did like its setting, which somewhat makes up for its story. Nothing spectacular, granted, but better than I was expecting.

With so many things to dislike about this movie I am surprised that I found that it was kind of fun to watch. A lot of stupid plot and script, but there were many entertaining moments. If you can overlook the many obvious flaws, you might find it has entertainment value. Amanda Seyfried was just OK, Gary Oldman was crazy good as the werewolf hunter. The story of Red Riding Hood takes a hard turn to the weird, and it really should have been more interesting.

Red Riding Hood is awful. It's not scary, I didn't care about anyone, the romance failed, there was no atmosphere, it didn't know what it wanted to do in each scene, and two little kids killed a bunny! (And more importantly, I fixated on that because thinking about the motivation behind it -- which, by the way, makes no sense later on -- was more interesting than anything else in the film.) I don't think you can get more horrific than that.

I was told this movie was going to completely suck. So going into this film I had very low expectations. I was pretty surprised. Amanda Seyfried plays the part of Valerie (or Red Riding Hood). A death in her village rekindles the fear that the big bad wolf is back. The town is in complete lock down as Gary Oldman tries to ascertain which of the villagers is the wolf in hiding. Is it the nice grandma? The shady boyfriend? This movie will keep you guessing. Loved the use of color in this movi

I actually truly enjoyed watching this movie. I found it to be an artsy take on something between murder mystery and a fairytale nightmare. Yes, the relationships in this movie are... odd. Like many of the reviews said, there was a lot of strange sexual tension where there should not have been. If you look at it as a mystery, it was quite good. I was kept wondering who the werewolf was till the end. I thought the beauty of the imaginary world was well done, but the acting was poor.

Nice looking scenery and great aesthetics in conjunction with a spooky-ish atmosphere and damn good music sets this up to be a pretty decent flick. Unfortunately it's like a really good looking sandwich only to take a bite and find it's filled with sand. The movie goes nowhere, and goes there so fast it's appalling. nothing in here turns out good, it just ends up dragging on and on. Oh yeah, and there's a cameo of a werewolf in it.

There were a few moments that were not horrible, but the rest was pretty much a mess of what could have been. Seyfried does a decent job, but I have seen better from her. Oldman comes in and goes over the top, but even this was effortless for him. The rest of the time I was left with eery scenes featuring Grandmother and odd sexual tension scenes between Seyfried and the two men who played her love interests. Just did not have enough to be a good film.

Weak premise, and it really feels like they just said, 'hey, Twilight's selling big, let's create the same kind of "brooding stranger with unknown past and odd powers that a girl falls in love with" as a story. It's bound to be a hit!' ... I'm so glad it wasn't. Oldman was the bright spot in this movie, and about the only one.

I was digging this quite a bit actually until the last 20-ish minutes. Great costume and art design, a relatively-mundane script, but another example of convention done fairly well. But oh God, the ending. So fucking terrible. No fault to the actors, just, really pisspoor writing. So there's ups and downs. The ups of course once again include the character portrayed by Ms. Seyfried (Y'know what, say what you will, but she's underrated.) The downs of course are headlined by the God-awful ending.

I thought it was better than expected, up until a certain point, and then it just became stupid and shitty. Honestly, quite a bit of it is pretty decent, with good art design, and decent performances. Sometimes the script is wonky, but that's forgivable in the beginning. But then maybe the last half hour or a little bit more, the movie tanks really badly and I just can't bring myself to recommend it. It ends up not satisfying you.
