This was a lot better than it had any right to be. Malkovich and Mirren steal the show and there's not enough Freeman in it. This is a ridiculous, over-the-top, hilarious action movie in the same realm as Crank and etc. It's not a great movie but it's a great time.

A stupid movie with stupid characters about stupid things that make you feel stupid. So many plot holes and so many characters that you don't give a shit about that it's difficult to stay interested throughout the film. It just felt like a wannabe Zack Snyder film (shitloads of slo mo, no character development, etc.) except it was somehow shittier. Boring!

A group of aging ex-CIA operatives come out of retirement to help out one of their own who is being hunted by mysterious assassins. This movie is to modern Bond-type flicks what The Expendables is to 80's action cheese. There's just enough decent action, quality one liners and overall star power to drag the final product over the threshold of "pretty good". It won't make you think and it won't change your life, but it's a fun and fluffy way to kill a couple of hours.

Red is entertaining however it's nothing more than that. It's never particularly clever and almost every humourous moment amounts to "haha old people can be funny and tough too!" With that said it's still entertaining to see so long as you're not expecting anything other than mindless violence from movie stars who are far more talented than this movie deserves.

Nothing new or spectacular, but it really is a fun watch. Not just for the fact that it's Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis and John Malkovich. Some of the action is done relatively well and it never really gets boring, and I like myself some Karl Urban. It's done well.

Witty and fun, the cast is great and the action is actually coherent, a rarity in the modern action movie. I could've used more Freeman, but what we got was fun and much better than any other action movie I've seen in years.

A waste of acting ability that thinks a comic book source means foregoing any emotional impact 4 "jokes". This would be ok if they were funny, but they're not& they're 1-note: retirees kick ass. Ha. It would've also helped to have actual characters 2 care about but there's nothing 2 play here: "Retired badass" is not a character. Everything Parker- the audience's "in"- has 2 do also rings blatantly false. If nothing else this teaches us that script is far more important than the actors involved

An action movie loosely based off of a DC Comic by the same name. I thought that the cast was perfect in this. Willis, Freeman, Malkovich and Mirren were are great team. Dreyfuss and Urban were also very excellent on the side of the bad guys. Finally, Mary-Louise Parker was a delight as Willis' love interest. There were a lot of laughs to be had and the action was also very intense at times. A few parts kind of dragged on but I was mostly satisfied throughout.

Pretty good for the type of movie it was supposed to be. It was entertaining and I've had a few laughs and this should be sufficient to be pleased. No need to take the movie down for not being something it wasn't supposed to be. Wasn't it cool to watch Willis recovering from Car smash, stepping out of the car and raining bullets on Karl Urban and then trapping him the way he did? Fun way to say "As tough as you may seem, you are not in my league kid!"

I found it very entertaining. This film successfully combines a love story with some Bruce Willis action scènes and the typically wacko Malkovich humour. This film has got almost everything. Where the story in this kind of action flicks mostly ruins the film, this isn't a concern here. Well thought through, well directed, well acted.

Very comical, indulgent fun. And for those that think there's "too much talent for the movie", well, again, that's the indulgence factor coming into play. That makes it awesome! Frank Moses is a role that I believe is more suited to Brucey at this stage in his career, as opposed to, say, the role he played in "Surrogates". Morgan Freeman's character was probably the one I enjoyed the most, but the entire ensemble was just fantastic. I really like Mary-Louise Parker; she's extremely underrated.

Though 'RED' never really feels as big as it wants to be, with the main characters criss-crossing an America that looks a lot like Toronto, it's still a lot of fun. Even with the high body count, 'RED' never takes itself too seriously. There might be a few too many jokes about being old, but there are quite a few good laughs as well. The central mystery tries to make it seem like it's a huge, world-breaking issue, but feels like no one outside of these characters know or care what's going on.

Shallow, lightweight fluff. That said, for simple thills and some nice action it entertained fairly well. The implausability of the characters and the messy, silly plot stopped the fun concept from fulfilling its potential. Even so, not bad

During the first hour, the plot is a little confusing, but the slick fast paced action will keep you more than entertained. A few minor irks though; Freeman needed more screentime, and Willis' and Parker's relationship felt bland and forced. Nice to see Karl Urban getting more roles in mainstream movies, I'd like to see more of him.

The plot is nonexcisting, the cast is somewhat a parody of themselves, the dialog is tacky (as it should be), the movie moves in a tempo from one place to another which is a bit confusing, but anyway they somehow pull it off, especially John Malkovich... The movie wants but fails to surprise and Bruce shows Karl Urban that even though he's gotten old, he can still kick his ass. "Cause they dont make 'em like that anymore" Which is more or less the thesis off the film. And I like that!

Somewhat saved by the entertaining characters and overall great acting without which this would be really hollow. Why are the 3 odd amazing action sequences blown before the halfway mark? The hailstorm of bullets in the last act does not make up for it and leaves every second without a wisecracking character on screen incredibly dull. Willis stepping out of the car is worth the whole movie. Also I'd watch Mary-Louise Parker just sit in a chair.

With such good actors cast in the main roles, so much more could have been done with these characters. Now they're mostly just wise-cracking gun-toting elderly people. Also, the plot made no sense at some points. But still, I laughed, and went "wow" during many action scenes, and had a lot of fun.

Red was a lot of fun. I would like to believe that all of these guys had fun doing this film. The premise of the movie was interesting. The feel of it brought on feelings of nostalgia for the action movies of the 80's. Bruce Willis plays John McClane. Morgan Freeman doesn't have much of a personality, which is too bad. Helen Mirror was hands down the biggest badass in this movie. I'm interested to see what happens in the second movie.

Exactly as good as you'd expect: stylish, funny, action-packed (the chase, the explosions, the epic fist fight, the siege, the big shoot-out); great soundtrack, crisp dialogues, witty humour. You can't help but relish the way those elements of the textbook action thriller come together along with the more subversive moments. But above all the cast is flawless: Malkovich and Mirren especially are perfect and their chemistry with Willis and Freeman is radiant. Extra kudos for Parker and Dreyfuss.

The comic is a far more gritty telling of the story of retired Black-Ops C.I.A. agents declared Retired and Extremely Dangerous (R.E.D.) being hunted for what they know and what they've done. Not only did screenwriters Jon and Erich Hoeber (Whiteout) cut the bloody violence from the story, they turned it into a mildly comedic PG-13 romp that has a few laughs, but at nearly two hours long the not-too-funny-in-the-first-place jokes turn stale pretty fast in action.

I saw this in theatres on opening night, and two days later had forgotten just about everything about it -- except that I kind of enjoyed myself. Willis seems bored out of his brain in everything he makes lately, but any movie that lets John Malkovich absolutely cut loose like a maniac has a spot in my good graces. To say the finale's stakes are low is to imply it even has stakes at all, so I won't say that. Instead, I'll say Karl Urban continues to be a highlight in every movie he's in.

It's quite funny and doesn't take itself too seriously (like so many Michael Bay movies). As a Torontonian, I do have to question the decision to use the Fairmont hotel so prominently (and rebranding it sloppily as Fairmont Chicago). It's a very well known Toronto landmark - it's almost the equivalent of trying to pass off the CN Tower as part of Chicago. But it's not the first nor will it be the last time that my hometown is repackaged as somewhere American.

Each time you think you've got it figured out, it surprises you again. Granted, not much of this story could ever possibly happen, and clever writing does not hide the many holes in the plot. The plot is ridiculous. I mean really quite ridiculous. Not much is ever expanded upon, there are subplots all over the place, the car rental industry in America must be making a ton of money in the film because there's a fucking limo around the corner whenever you need it...It's just dumb. Dumb. However, this is still a fun film. The cast do their best to elevate the script and their characters are kind of off beat and neat. With an ensemble cast, fun story and cute concept, Schwentke manages to do absolutely nothing extraordinary with it. The story was predictable and flat. There were a lot of loose ends too, like, why did they suddenly not care for Joe? I had a similar dislike for the cartoon aspect in the film as well, yes, it was fresh and light-hearted (and a DC concept) but it just seemed to awkward. The ending was bogus, though.
