Engaging display of cinema verité by following the exact audiorecording of this interrogation. Sadly it is slightly hindered by some questionable editing choices, especially cutting back to the typed out script or showing the waveforms: this takes me out of the scene, which is a shame bc the acting is great. Still a recommend watch, a good insight in the cunning manipulation of fbi interrogation and into the psyche of a girl that realizes she's just ruined her life.

The somewhat hokey ending with the music and the newsclips was unfortunate, but I can't deny that I was riveted up until the end. An incredible job adding menace and dimension to the source recording, and Sydney does deserve praise for capturing guilt, nervousness, and anger in a restrained way.

A solid new angle on a political thriller, with plenty on its mind regarding the media. It's just ultimately lacking enough tension, and is too small and lightweight to be great, or even particularly good.

Outstanding and tense, somehow, given that the dialogue is just an interrogation interview. Really phenomenal direction and performances elevate it to something special.

An interesting watch due to the amount of realism that comes with recreating events based on an audio recording. Although it’s probably not worth a rewatch, it’s good for what it is.

I'm usually a sucker for this king of chamber gimmick and this feels very compelling at first sight, but every attempt of actually going, let's say, dramatic or beyond the interrogation material does seem a bit flat (that little moment where she kinda confronts the agents, saying "The Intercept?" lol) and awkward -- and not in a good way. That said, Sweeney is really good and you just stick with the unnerving small talk exchanges about CrossFit, dogs, trip to Belize and shit.

Interesting watching someone's (professional) life end in front of their eyes in less than 2 hours.

This seemed bound to grow pretty monotonous but because the actors do such a great job it actually never does.

Consistently engaging drama boils down to a two hander between Sweeney and Hamilton - both actors are well and truly up to the task, with Hamilton's slimily friendly and insinuating agent the perfect foil for Sweeney, who walks away with the film in a quite stunning, multi-faceted portrait of this character, who frantically ducks and weaves, while also processing the implications of her actions in real time. Occasionally showy editing and construction techniques are a minor hindrance.

Reality is a pretty good political thriller. The interrogation, based on real events, carried out in a single location and around a house, is handled wonderfully. A fluid, intriguing film about manipulation and political darkness. Sydney Sweeney is excellent, one of the best performances I've seen this year.

"Reality" is a quiet, intimate exploration of an individual embroiled in a political maelstrom. However, in its effort to portray Reality Winner's story with authentic realism, it fails to fully delve into the broader political implications of her actions, resulting in a film that is intriguing but ultimately lacking in depth.

The editing is a little hokey. Sydney Sweeney's acting is good. Not much rewatch value.
