Read My Lips is an old school style of thriller with modern film-making techniques, and quite a good formula for other would-be directors with similar leanings to try to emulate. It's not just the sights and sounds that provide real suspense, rather it's how much we care about the people in them that really gets you chewing on those fingernails.

This is quite a remarkable film. It's kind of a crime film, and kind of a psych-sexual thriller, but both of these elements are saved for the last act. It's sets up these two main characters gradually, and then throws them together in extreme circumstances that teach them just how meant for each other they really are. The twists and turns of the last 20 minutes are ... wonderful.

Compelling characters with complex motivations, what more could you ask for? The first act could be a movie in itself, which is always fun, although by the denouement I was starting to think it’d gone a bit too far. Still an entertaining ride

Sometimes you can be very lucky if to go through the piles of old movies and buy some from sale. "Read My Lips" is true treasure. Jacques Audiard has made another brilliant movie how two totally different persons can work together as well as A-Team.

Both Devos and Cassel are great, reminds me of great French crime thrillers of the 70's

This is a very unusual & intense story in French of 2 outsiders who find themselves in circumstances where their very lives depend on trusting and relying on each other. It's also, among other things, a romance of sorts but definitely not a rom-com.

Not a bad premise for a thriller and some decent camera work helps seal the deal. However, I'm not sure why, but I never find thrillers to be the most, shall we say, thrilling films to watch.

Everyone here shows tremendous skill, and Audiard's writing is as good as his directing. It's not a very innovative or revelatory film, but the excellence of the characterization really helps it as an eventual thriller.

E. Devos carries this film. It's a very well writed and well played character. The way she find the love forcing it, like a shy school-girl with too much power, it's amazing. Love it's interdependence, as sex it's a dirty power game, and that's the more cynic way to tell it. By technical stand-point, Audiard is a great director, and here it's especially great how he manage the sound perception of Carlà, let us feeling the world in her way, capable to turn off it or read it from a safe position.

Largely dependent on an indelibly touching performance by Emmanuelle Devos, Audiard's emotional, cagey dramatic caper genuinely engages on various levels, one being a refreshing variation on the office romance, two lonely people discovering each other in a way that germinates in a purely unique fashion.

French movie with English subtitles. A nearly deaf girl befriends an ex-con and is drawn into a plan to steal money from a local gangster. The plot hinges on her ability to read lips to discover the gangsters secrets. Fast paced and riveting. Just as they are about to escape with the loot, he is caught and things quickly go very bad. A plan to live through the ordeal is quickly hatched and set into motion. Vincent Cassel was surprisingly good in this, but Emmanuelle Devos was a standout.

The lip reading on the roof scene was amazing, had a few other great scenes which I can't remember right now since it's been months, a good movie.

Though it loses steam somewhere around the middle, Sur mes levres is a fun, thrilling ride.
