Rat. takes Pixar several laps over other studios again. This time not just technically superior, but also story has a thick fabric. At times it even feels like realism tradition of european cinema , other times usual wishful thinking paves the way smoothly. If Pixar movies can be considered a kind of tweaked genre movies, Ratatouille has the most touch on real life. A quick half hour cut that leaves out the Hollywood bits from Rat. would reveal a movie much harsher in nature.

The best animated film of 2007 once again points out Brad Bird's excellence. Working with that man has been golden for Pixar. Ever since he created "The Iron Giant," his stories and direction have built rich characters and emotions that many believed animated films could never establish. The voice acting is terrific, the characters are memorable and by the end of the movie I was hungry and in the mood to cook. Influence is a strong sign of a great movie!

I was skeptical about this film up until after about 1 minute into it, by which time I'd developed the distinct feeling that this film would be something truly excellent. I was relieved at the end to acknowledge that my first impressions were accurate. I don't remember the last animated film that "worked" for me as well this one, with its undeniable charm (in all categories). However, I am not in the film's target age group. I don't think the younger generations would be equally impressed.

So incredibly beautiful..everything! They remind us at the end with the "Genuine Animation, no motion capture" disclaimer, and it is damn beautiful animation! This film definitely makes up for Cars which was targeted to a more "blue collar" audience, shall we say. This is the complete opposite, made for artists, snobs, and generally people of passion and intelligence. I LOVED IT! No pop culture references or Sheryl Crow songs or dance sequences, just good characters, story, and animation

Quite possibly the greatest film Pixar will ever make. Trust Brad Bird and Pixar to make a talking animal film that is really a sophisticated and joyous celebration of art in all its forms. The storytelling never misses a beat, the casting and acting are flawless, and the art design is delectable. Ratatouille is already one of the great classics of cinema and animation.

Multiple viewings can be essential for some movies and when I viewed Ratatouille for a second time, my opinion had changed quite a lot. Good, was my initial reaction and I never thought much more of it. Second time around however, everything just seemed so much more impressive. The scenes as well as animation were beautiful, it was well written and all in all it was just a joy to watch. If only more animated flicks could follow Pixar's lead and make their movies enjoyable for all ages and not ju

A very entertaining movie that really can be compared with any other movie out there not just as a kids movie, but as a movie full stop. That said, it also shows how much further Pixar still has to go. Judged as any other movie the story is rather simplistic, the characters are overly cutesy and while it's fun to watch it all feels rather shallow and predictable. Pixar has shown they can combine kid appeal with serious themes, hopefully they'll work on actually developing those themes.

An utterly fantastic animated film, even by Pixar's standards. A gorgeous film with some wonderful characters and one of the most beautiful and emotionally affecting endings you'll see in any animated movie. Anton Ego's review at the end alone would make this a great movie.

Super solid animated tale from Pixar yet again. I don't personally think it's their most emotionally resonating movie, but that's not necessarily a bad thing I guess. It's beautifully edited and directed and the voice cast is all super solid as well as. I think it's amazing that some writers made a movie about rats and kids still loved it. Very good.

What a wonderful movie. Great design of all the characters. Their physical and facial gestures show us that Ratatouille doesn't need to be full of dialogues to tell us this rich story about the search for indentity. Brad Bird even makes room for a little bit of social criticism (Gusteau's burritos, chinese food and hot dogs coming soon, xD). Thank god, Pixar still knows how to make great films. Films for both children and adults.

Very enjoyable kids' movie that is a little more intelligent and less slapstick than some other CGI movies. I think adults may end up enjoying this one more than the kids. There's some wonderful voice acting and the quality of the CGI is a cut above even Pixar's usual high standards.

"Ratatouille" is another marvel from PIXAR. It combines everything that made the company's previous gems so great: brilliant humor, action enorchestrated to perfection, likable characters and a large heart. Writer/director Brad Bird has skillfully crafted what will be remembered in the years to come as a daring, almost revolutionary landmark in animation.

I don't know why I avoided this for so long. The marketing campaign really short sold this and I never had any interest in it. I heard about the satire of Eisner in this movie and decided to see it, and really this is one of the most resonant films Pixar has ever made. It's funny and informed and its message of creativity hits home with every bit of relevance that you see in Wall-E, for example. The literally only complaint I have is how creepy Lou Romano''s character can be around people.

Touching story, but it was a little drawn out for me. I was watching it online and kept feeling tempted to google stuff. I really enjoyed the last half hour, but up until that point, I was wondering why everyone seemed to love this as much as they did. Maybe I just couldn't get past the rat army in the kitchen...kind of skeevs me out, even in animation. But, like I said, I really enjoyed the ending, so that made up for a little bit.

Delightful. Brad Bird knocks another one out of the park. There are so many brilliant moments in this film, my favourite of which is the way Bird manages to visualize the sense of taste, and the effect that combining flavours has on it. O'Toole's Anton Ego is an excellent character, and the plot climaxes beautifully. The animation is gorgeous, and the concept makes for a few very inventive sequences. A definite hit. Pixar never misses the mark.

Fantastic. Brad Bird and Pixar score another huge hit; this makes Bird's two Pixar outings two of my highest-rated Pixars. The animation is absolutely fantastic, which goes without saying, but the story is unique and endearing, with great characters, and even if it is a bit formulaic, it's of such high quality that I can't really complain. It's too easy to cook up culinary puns for this review but it really does feel like a ton of ingredients are thrown in the pot here: to a classic action-comedy base are added two narrative perspectives (only one where Remy can talk), multiple character dynamics (father/son, rats/humans, Remy/Ghost-eau), a commentary on art and its accessibility/enjoyment, and tiny rats cooking, which is a delight to watch in and out of the hat. The completed dish is very enjoyable, if maybe a bit too flavourful?

I think a 65 year old man is not the target audience for this movie, unless he happens to be watching it on a nice warm couch, cuddling his grand daughter, snuggled up on a cold day in January. Then you can say that this was a true joy. Sure it was a bit long, but that just meant more dozing off time ..What's not to like?. I particularly liked the "scurrying" animation, which got the movement of the rats down to a T. Technically perfect. So often animated animals all have the same gait / weight

It is another hit by Pixar who seem to make the fantastic in their sleep. They know how to use plot and characters to tell a complete story. I'm completely unflinching in my opinion that Ratatouille is Pixar's best movie and (judging by recent efforts) probably always will be. I've seen it nothing less than a dozen times and it's a contender for my favorite animated movie period. It's certainly the most beautiful, with the animation portraying the magic and romance of France greater than anything I've seen in a live-action film. Exquisite animation married to a (mostly) amusing and clever script, is sullied by a crucial plot device and themes that get fairly rammed down your throat. Fine motor control being marionetted by tweaking of follicles? Really? I know, suspension of disbelief, but ugh, I just can't. Also stealing is WRONG (even garbage amazingly) = uTorrent. Rodents must acquire gainful employment or learn farming techniques or die a slow death from starvation. Humans OR animals, please Pixar, not both.

Quite the fun film. It's not as charmingly detailed as some of the other Disney/Pixar films, but then it also has a different feeling to it. Ratatouille is Disney and Pixar's best work since The Incredibles in 2004. I love Pixar animation, don't get me wrong, but as much as I adore the realism of the "set" (i.e. Ego's typewriter, the kitchen, etc.), the "actors" are all characatures of people, with large noses (great French stereotype there, Pixar), or loooong faces (because all dour folk have them), or something equally silly. That being said, this is a wonderful movie with a fulfilling plot.

It boasts an amusing cast and I do think there's a solid monolog about the nature of critique around the end, but most of this is just extremely formulaic Pixar fluff that goes through the same plot beats of many Disney flicks. Disney has been beating us over the head with the theme of "self-realization" for years, and frankly, this movie sticks to that formula to a tee in a way I don't find interesting. Not to mention how laughable its depiction of the culinary arts is.

I've always enjoyed Ratatouille. The story is impossible, but is able to present a message without being too heavy handed with it. There are some story beats that don't hit quite right, Linguini doesn't get the development that Remy does, the romance seems a bit out of nowhere and forced, but it still doesn't keep me from enjoying the movie.
