The movie chronicles the events of history's "man of mystery," Rasputin. Lee is entertaining as always; his Rasputin is intense and very strange. The film lacks a good foil for him, though, and in fact no one else has very much personality at all. The arc the story will take is plain to see from early on, especially if you know "the true story." By the climax, I was eager to see Rasputin get poisoned, shot, drowned, stabbed, and hung, but I suppose the filmmakers thought that would be over the top. Disappointing.

Serviceable bio of Russia's sex machine, but for some reason they skipped over all the best parts of Rasputin's historic death!

Repetitive and annoying with Lee dialing it up to 11.

Hammer's Rasputin is historically inaccurate and really just a showcase for Lee's unusual talent for playing bizarre characters. His performance isn't good exactly, at least not from a technical standpoint, but he is compulsively watchable as Rasputin, all guttural grunts and intense stares, and Sharp builds an intriguing mystery around his origins and motives, which are shadowy and opaque until they aren't. At that point the film becomes routine right through to the inevitable confrontation.

A rather absurd film that introduces spurious supernatural elements and has only the faintest connection with historical evidence. Christopher Lee was too good for this script.. EF 5, IF 5.

Rasputin makes for a fun horror movie villain, and Lee makes for a fun Rasputin, with all his deep-throated threats and wide-eyed hypnosis scenes. A thoroughly unremarkable but entertaining lark.

Rasputin é uma personagem fascinante e Lee nasceu para interpretá-lo, mas alguma coisa não está certa com esse filme, a versão de Uli Edel com Alan Rickman é mais interessante.

Far from perfect but very entertaining.

Reasonably diverting Hammer hokum, seemingly knocked up on the cheap, and the lack of investment is up there on the screen for all to see. Any appeal this film has, save for a couple of moments, stems from Lee's impressively intense presence. Perhaps one for Hammer completists/Lee fans only, and probably a bit tame compared to the myths surrounding the man.
