I kept waiting for a spaceship that could shoot forwards AND drop little bombs below it, but alas, this was not a film adaptation of Gradius. The concept for this film is based on anytime I'm at a cocktail party and I have a story I really want to share.

Takes a clever concept and then, instead of explaining the hell out of it as Hollywood is wont to do (usually in scenes with hot models wearing glasses and lab coats), the movie just runs with it, keeping the viewer just as much out of the loop as the characters are. The ending may polarize, but simply having the opportunity to observe the male and female leads scamper about their rat maze was enough to keep the mad anthropologist in me morbidly entertained.

A well acted mostly well produced movie with an incomplete half baked nonsensical plot. Some mysterious force is the best they can come up with. The writing was lazy and uninspired. Some points for a twisty ending, but it was barely watchable and not really worth while.

Interesting concept that I wish was better executed.

A batshit crazy script and a weirdly simplistic approach to acting combine to make this movie much more interesting than it has any right to be. The writing is fan-fiction quality, but in a strangely endearing way. And the cast is good enough to instill at least some empathy in the audience. More importantly, the ideas and themes lurking under the surface are far from simple. Worth a watch, just temper your expectations.

Over two thirds of good movie thoroughly ruined by an absolutely nonsensical twist the writers pulled out of their collective asses. Shyamalan would be proud. I cannot overstate it: the high concept and how it was being handled had me so engrossed that the final fifteen minutes are just so much worse in comparison.

2022'de #IzlediğimFilmler ; 216. Radius (2017) @Tubi gerçekten bir maden. Karşıma çıkan bu düşük bütçeli gizem korkusu hikayesi ile sizi son ana kadar taşıyor.

Quite interesting idea. I actually wanted to see the idea more after the movie ended, could definitely have been a mini-series.

Starts as a strong sci-fi concept, and slowly turns into a thriller/drama. Not groundbreaking, but still a solid effort.

Radius takes two established ideas from the sci-fi genre (tabula rasa and a neutralising (or fate-bound) pair) and combines them into a decent mystery-thriller, at least initially. Unfortunately the execution is woefully inadequate; the writing is weak as it takes the plot into a tedious character drama; and the acting is painful at times, never getting us invested in the characters. A disappointing waste of the concept.

Watched this months ago and forgot to rate, OK-ish, ending seemed a bit try-hard.

The acting (especially Klattenhoff) and dialogue are a bit of a let down, but the unique premise keeps the film enjoyable. Sure the “solution” at the end isn’t very creative, it never really goes anywhere (like the leads never trying to figure out how to solve the problem), and the pacing is so-so after the first act. But I was always interested, the twist was pretty good, and I really liked the ending. Worth watching for those who don’t mind the acting.
