Never dull just when you think it might start to get a tad dull Allen turns the dial to another segment. I am a big sucker for nostalgia pieces for times I was no part of because my time machine doesn't work.

The nostalgia of this era didn't do it for me, but the film was overall solid and stands out with Jewish characters. There wasn't much of a plot. I don't really see much difference between this and the more popular A Christmas Story. Fav scenes: Abe talking against God and then feeling an immediate hurt; family making up slogans for a coffee brand in reference to Christmas in July.

A meandering film which, while amusing, lacks any focal points. Not much stands out and overall doesn't give the audience much to walk away with but its heart is in the right place.

A love letter to radio, it's quite enjoyable but lacks the spark of Allen's best work. The huge cast and many storylines are good but make the film a bit unfocused, and there's a nostalgic feel to the film that sadly doesn't resonate with me. Still, with no bad moments and a short running time it's a nice film.

A fantastic reminiscence of childhood as only Woody Allen could tell, he does such a good job at making the era seem romantic and wonderful that I long to be brought back to the forties to relive a childhood in the golden days of radio.

A couple of Woody's nostalgic anecdotes are rather sweet. Overall, however, his film plays like a forgettable string of underdeveloped sketches.

Captivating nostalgic reflection of the 1940s; deeply felt and unusually fond in tone for a Woody film (though it's his memories so OF COURSE the weather is bad!) Beautifully produced and performed by a terrific cast of former Woody co-stars, with Farrow stealing the show as loud-mouthed cigarette girl, and Wiest hilarious as always as ever hopeful Aunt Bea. A truly wonderful film.

There is a special kind of pleasure in watching a film made by a director who so obviously loves its subject. Even the sad story lines serve to show the importance of family. Do not be fooled: it is a film that celebrates life, both the tragic and the comic moments. It only presents itself as an love letter to radio.

A lovely paean to family, childhood and, of course, radio. The plot is scattershot but it never feels slight or underdeveloped, as its many tangents contribute to a touching whole. Very funny, bittersweet and nostalgic; one of Allen's most charming films.

Woody's "Amarcord." Beautiful, evocative, but very funny too. Julie Kavner and Diane Wiest are standouts.

Anecdotal ensemble on nostalgia; neighborhood gossip, celebrity worship, imagination, and apocrypha. It is a nice little film with a few warm and funny moments. Toward the end there is an all-too-brief scene where, while the rest of the city celebrates the New Year, a group of characters collectively lament the passage of time. I wish the film captured more of that bittersweet sentiment, but it's enjoyable as is, if slightly underwhelming.

Allen piles on the caricatures, nostalgia, and Fellini influence. If you can excuse the lack of character depth (the focus is in the era), it's a wonderful time.

One of Woody's best, made in the days when he was cranking out a terrific movie every year like clockwork. A fine, wistful reminiscence of a time that we will never see the likes of again.

Quaint nostalgia that works just due to its raw personality and the way it embodies positive memories. What I dig is that while there are negative memories conveyed it's portrayed as less a damper to the nostalgia and more just a funny quirk of the past, even if there's a subtle admittance to the abusive, dysfunctional family dynamic it's easy to look at that sort of thing as something to fondly reminisce on as a "simpler" time in life compared to the complexities of adulthood.

Not exactly a thrilling film (a YouTube live reaction to it would not make for eventful viewing) but a very warm and nostalgic one, and an easy relaxed watch. The homefront during WW2 timeframe is an interesting one in movies like this and A League of Their Own, arguably underexplored in film imo. Surprise “wait, is that…” sightings include Marge Simpson’s voice actress and a kid Seth Green. One of the few Woody Allen films with nudity as we see a blonde MILF schoolteacher’s plump naked ass.

Despite an awful Woody Allen narration, this film is a blast, managing to interweave the radio aspects and make them cinematically exciting. Although this film doesn't quite feel like a complete and cohesive narrative, it entertains with its ensemble and how their lives revolve around this piece of technology. Heart-felt and earnest, without being sickly.

A pleasing series of 1940s family vignettes by Woody Allen. The stories are not that memorable but the way he captures the zeitgeist is perfect. The best roles go to Diane Keaton and Mia Farrow, who feel like exotic big sisters to Seth Green's ersatz Woody.

Nostalgia has no narrative structure or realistic characterizations, so why should a nostalgic movie? All of Woody's regulars were great; as usual Dianne Wiest and Julie Kavner turn in strong performances, and I was so happy they shared the screen. Mia Farrow was playing so broad, she had no opportunity to annoy me, which was nice. Seth Green, although he had few lines, was great as Woody's avatar and really held the movie together. One of the better nostalgia flicks.

This is one of the most humble, robust and lifelike families in American film, and we get a sense of amazing warmth and solidarity, as well as a kind of chorus always ready to hum and dance to the songs on the radio. The songs keep coming like your favorite radio station, and you get a feeling of how movies and radio were once the bloodstream of a great nation. Woody is the narrator - sad, wistful, excited, aroused - and he's perfect. It's a masterpiece, one of a kind.

"Radio Days" is a rather small film for Woody, albeit a wonderfully delightful, heartfelt and funny one. Full of nostalgia for an idealized era and a bunch of crazy situations, Allen's coming-of-age story is alternatively hilarious and sensitive, but without resorting to manufactured sentimentalism. The cast is great, literally stuffed with Woody regulars, including the always reliable Dianne Wiest, Mia Farrow who adorably fakes silliness, as well as a terrific cameo by Diane Keaton.

"Radio Days" is a sweet, light, nostalgic, emotional take on the pre-TV golden age of radio, and is boosted considerably by the superb performances. Still, it lacks Allen's special touch.

Usually when people, including myself, say "there wasn't much of a plot," it's a slam against the movie. Oddly enough, that's not the case here. The movie was just a series of stories, intentionally portrayed as either exaggerated or fictitious, which made the movie so charming and light hearted that I never found myself caring about the overall plot. That's unusual for me. Let me say this though. Mia Farrow gives perhaps the worst double performance I've ever seen. I don't like her at all

"Fine little nostalgie piece. There's nothing wrong with it, as such, it's just not my cup of beer." - My original review, along with a rank of 45. The fuck was I thinking? This is Woody's Amarcord- an absolute joy to watch. There's little of the darkness that is essential to his really kick ass movies (of which Crimes and Misdemeanors is the best) but as for the lighter side of Allen, this is as good as it gets. And that's NOT how you spell "nostalgia", Dean! Get your shit together.

Really fun movie about the golden age of radio, and what it was like growing up during those times. The things a kid experiences are all shown from a young point of view. The actual film doesn't really seem to have a destination, but that's unimportant - the treat is the journey that Seth Green's character takes us on.
