Heartwarming story of the real life man / child "Radio" Outstanding performances from Harris and Gooding Favorite moments Radio on the sidelines cheering in particular when he starts mimicking Coach and starts yelling "Chicken Sh!t"

The most shameless piece of Oscar bait I've ever laid eyes on. Combines the can't-miss uplift of sports films with the time-tested feel-good inspiration of retard movies. If only Cuba had studied under Kirk Lazarus, he might have known that you never go full retard. Ever. I feel embarrassed for Ed Harris that this movie even exists. Gooding Jr.'s acting turns this into a comedy more than anything.

Gooding Jr. is insanely good in this movie, and I don't think I've ever seen Ed Harris better, except maybe "Pollock"

This movie wants you to feel uplifted, but the script fails to develop and make you care for Cuba Gooding, Jr's character. Wow does that man need a comeback... But overall, it ain't all bad either.

Heartwarming in the most formulaic and manipulative way possible. Sure it still made me tear up, but that doesn't make it good.

Warm hearted fluff proves the venerable underdog formula is sure-fire when done well; it is the sincere and straightforward performances by the actors which makes this potentially cloying material work, almost making the viewer forget that the screenplay is working overtime to contrive meaningful conflict. Gooding’s veeery broad performance may be a deal-breaker for some, but his ultimate opaqueness serves him better as the ultimate story device which he is.

Watched this because i was bored. Not sure if it helped on that matter. Tollin likes to do sport movies and looks like he gets some ideas from newspaper stories. Its warm-hearted movie but does not give enough emotions.

Another frustration is that we feel for Radio, not with him. Everything we learn about him we either hear from someone else or observe as bystanders. We never really benefit from his perspective (unlike, say, Forrest Gump). He's a human puppy dog who makes us laugh by jumping through "cute" hoops. Because we lack an intimate connection with the struggling young man, he's more of a symbol than a three-dimensional human being. (pluggedin.com)

It is good because the story based on real facts and their message is beautiful. But it is quite cliche.

Melodramatic, sure, but the chemistry between Harris and Gooding in unmistakable. This is a rich story that could have very easily deteriorated into an afterschool special but it doesn't. This is one of Gooding's best performances.

Gooding is good, and Harris is fantastic, and when you see the real Radio and Coach Jones at the end of the movie, it is a touching moment that makes all of the story manipulations worthwhile. Radio is a bit heavy on the syrup, but still satisfying nonetheless.

A "moving" tale of a "special" man. It's very "touching" and hits all of the right "emotional" notes that a stereotypical "feel-good" flick needs.

Cuba Gooding as a mentally challenged person, you would have thought he could land the role. Let us just say it wasn't as great as he must have thought. The plot never got to the point where it was an OH NO! moment either. This movie did not develop in any way. Its a movie to watch with the kids, but that is because they like anything.
