Radiance

Tranquil movie, watches itself like a poem. Development is slow, peaceful, but feels like it's almost without substance. Soundtrack beautiful.

Delicate enough to keep us interested. But it's mostly dramatically lifeless, despite Kawase's constant attempts to turn every shot into a poetic gesture. A woman who audiodescribes a film for blind people develops a friendship -- later they even kiss -- with a former photographer who is partially blind -- he says his heart is camera that doesn't beat anymore. Maybe 15 minutes longer than it should be. Second hour visually less striking than the first.
