For the first time in cinema history, its safe to say that Jason Takes Manhattan has better boat scenes than another movie that exists.

By now, the [Rec] series has become as tiresome as that obnoxious clown you hire for your kid's birthday party. Sure, he knows how to put on a show, but after 5 hours, you just want him to pack his shit and leave.

Pour le retour de l'héroïne du premier film. Pas un faux-retour comme dans le 2. On abandonne tout ce qui a fait le succès du premier film, c'est juste un film d'horreur tout gentil avec des zombies.

"I'm on a boat!" (audience stares, waiting) (zombie clears his throat) (audience stares impatiently) (zombie shuffles awkwardly offstage)

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. Boring and derivative, the few flashes of invention are stolen from better films

God dammit. I wanted the closing chapter of the series to be amazing so badly. This movie mostly tries to go back to the serious approach of the first two movies, but it never for one second manages to recreate what [REC] had. Apart from that, there's a few moments of insane badassery à la [REC]3 in here, which work fine on their own. However, this movie as a whole is tone-deaf, uneven, uninteresting, unoriginal, unsatisfying, and only mildly entertaining. The ending is a big cop-out.

The 4th installment of the [REC] -franchise entirely drops the whole found footage -premise and tries to build up on the existing lore, but fumbles miserably and loses the ball pretty soon after the interesting start. I really liked the setting of a claustrophobic ship approaching a storm and at first, I figured I would really like this. Then the plot goes all haywire with a weird plot that tries too hard to do the same thing that Alien or Resident Evil did.

The gore and action scenes are decent enough when they happen but the set up, story and characters are all poorly done and somewhat generic and even annoying. Better than the third film but that doesn't mean much and this isn't that good. If you are a fan of the first one stop there or at the very least stop at number 2.

In what is supposed to be the "final" entry of the series, they really do a bad job of answering ANY story questions that have been present throughout the whole series, and on top of that, they blatantly left it open for yet another sequel. I don't really see the point. The first movie was (I'd say) an above-average found-footage movie, but all the sequels have pretty much just been bland generic zombie movies.

Well the monkey was sorta funny. Honestly I'm just putting my probable score on here 'cause I kinda tuned out for most of this. Plenty of action and violence yet utterly dull and unengaging.

At least this one actually follows on from the main story of the first two films, rather than being completely pointless like the third. Still, it wasn't very good. It has a paper thin plot, and is just filled with typical zombie stuff and a whole lot of clichés. The characters are hollow, and even the return of Angela is underwhelming. Overall, it was pretty boring, and offered absolutely nothing new. Let's hope the series really is over now.

A disappointing conclusion to a series that probably shouldn't have made it past installment number one, [REC]4 does the same dance as its direct predecessors, yet doesn't at all benefit from losing the found footage filming style. It's not scary. We await the monsters simply because it will at least increase the pace and perhaps eliminate some of the secondary characters. We do not fear them. It's not especially bad, but unless you're dying to see more of Ángela, you don't need to see it.

You know what sucks about this the mostest? One of the shitty Resident Evil films that takes place on a boat is better than this wet fart. Who fucking cares about these new characters hooting and hollering around computer screens and labs, who cares, who cares, who cares? The first two movies did more to scare you in a stairway than this fucking garbage does with a big stinky boat.

Your Mini-Review: The Paco Plaza directed Rec 3 was a digression in genre and tone, and certainly inferior to 1 and 2, but it is Balaguero himself who puts an irremovable stain on his own franchise with "4: Apocalypse" - an eye-rollingly pedestrian horror film, with absolutely none of whatever made the original scary, and boring procedural dialogue that makes you switch off.
