Quo Vadis?

A bit fragmented, and jumps from one situation to another without really engaging the viewer. There is some neat stuff to be found though: large groups of extras, nice looking sets, a roman orgy, gladiators, christians being fed to the lions, the burning of Rome, wristcutting, etc. All in all only interesting for movie history buffs I suppose.

Considering it's over 100 years old, it's visually stunning - you can see where it made people like Griffiths realise that this long-form film thing was a thing of the future. It certainly spares no expense, and wastes no chance to impress its viewers. At the same time, the story-telling aspect falls flat, feeling more like set pieces with intertitles basically just going "Remember that scene from the book where... Well, this is that scene."
