Impressive for its time, but very heavy-handed with its morals, although that's par for the course with Lee's work.

Summary: A grandmother who feels guilty over having failed to heed the “spare the rod…” saying worries even more about its consequences for the “family line”, and for that reason forces her adoptive granddaughter to get together with her spoiled grandson, but matters improve somewhat because it turns out that there’s nothing like setting a date on one’s mortality to focus attention on the things that really count in life. An unusual story, told in a fairly entertaining way.

Sure, you might have brutally murdered two henchman and slain a defenceless pregnant woman, but have you ever coerced your adopted daughter to visit your hopeless son in prison so he can impregnate her and ensure the family dynasty via a male heir? Like grandmother, like grandson! I thought Pei Pang was never going to repent for his sins, but he did, but only just in time (with death immanent).
