Pumpkin

It's a really subtle comedy, but it's TOO subtle. I mean either that or it's just bad, because I'm not even 100% sure it was a comedy. But then if it wasn't, it'd be even worse. Kinda lose lose I guess. There's nothing to HATE about it per se, and there's a couple things worth appreciating, but not enough to recommend it on any level. I'd say don't bother with it, you won't be missing out on anything really. Actually yea, definitely skip it.

This is what happens when someone with no genuine wit or insight attempts to make a dark comedy. Was this a dark comedy? The only joke seems to be the one played on the audience.

I dunno I'm a glutton for this early 00's stuff. It's obvs the hammiest shit but whatever it hits you when it hits you.

Pumpkin is abundant with funny, quirky moments. It is one of those movies that you can watch over and over because of all the little moments that are only seen with multiple viewings. Christina Ricci is a treasure of an actress that doesn't get as much attention as she deserves. She always seems to pick movies that fit her perfectly and Pumpkin was made with her in mind. Pumpkin introduces a plot that does a great job of being sweet and sour at the same time.

What did I just watch. Though I found a slight strange enjoyment in it I could never explain. Best part of the movie was the music.

Appealingly offbeat, but as there is no narrative interest here and it's never really all that funny it falls short as both a satire and a romance.

Unexpectedly great film. I assume it must make a lot of people mad since it's honest and heartfelt one moment and satiric the next, but that's its whole charm and what I loved the most about it. Christina Ricci rocks, it's a gleeful performance.

The sort of thick satire I usually like, but dealing with these people for an entire movie is just too painful.
