Based on Elizabeth Wurtzel's best-selling memoir, Prozac Nation stars Christina Ricci as a woman on the verge of losing her grip on life after she leaves her emotionally fraught home to start college. Quickly, her life takes a turn for the worse: She clashes with her roommate (Michelle Williams) and decides her boyfriend, Rafe (Jason Biggs), is her sole salvation. Her psychiatrist prescribes Prozac ... but is that her only choice?

I think it was the philosopher Rivers Cuomo who said, "We are all on drugs," and even though I didn't see this in the window where people, myself included, fell in love with Garden State (a movie a lot of those same people have turned on, myself not included), I can see the relatability of the character even if she's a bit of a prat (but aren't all people when they're young, myself most certainly included). Supporting cast alone recommends a spin. Rehashed verbatim from my Thumbsucker review.

Hey, I don't mind it. Parts of it have guts, and Christina Ricci gives the role a good crack as well. However, Jason Biggs is like the antithesis to onscreen chemistry and as a result it drags, much like his nose. You say to yourself, "I'm not overwhelmed, I'm not underwhelmed, maybe I'm just whelmed." Or at least that's what you'd say if you were in Europe.

(Viewed on 1/01/12): In 1994, Wurtzel's P.N served as a warning that young people were over medicated and that mental illness was on the rise, in addition to the self portrait of victimhood she painted. When the film was finally released, the confessional culture was deeply entrenched and depression was just part of the scenery, which made it completely redundant. Ricci tries, but it's all in vain because its moment had passed. It's also rather indifferently made with a poor use of jump cuts.

Christina Ricci shines in an honest portrayal of depression. Not an easy watch, not always the most entertaining film, but an important one to watch. Less impactful than the book on which it is based, in large part because it's tough to build sympathy for the protagonist, the film is still largely effective.

This is an interesting but depressing movie. Christina Ricci is good in the lead role and there are some other interesting supporting performances. If you are in the mood to watch a drama about a depressed person then check this film out.

Had some promise but what an horrible 3rd act that was, I thought we still had over half an hour to go but the movie ended so suddenly. Biggs's character obviously had a much larger impact which we could not see in the movie.. Could have been much better with a strong ending.. Some up the whole story (which could have been a movie by itself) with a single line from the character? WTF dude?

Rough rough beginning that had my date almost running out of the room, but then things calm down a bit. Ricci is the film. The supporting cast underachieves leaving her to try to carry this story. I really do think she excels at portraying her character. The moodswings she show are pretty extreme but believable. I just wish she was given a little more of a case to work with. J-BIGGS?, ? Really? Come on... It would be wrong for me not to admit that visual affects were a definite plus.

Oh cool, they made a full-length movie out of Christina Ricci swearing, yelling and getting stoned.

One of my favourite movies. Its simple, tells a story. And makes you feel understood, if you ever suffered from depression.

Boring as hell. Kept expecting it to go SOMEWHERE, ANYWHERE. Haven't read the book, but imagine it HAS to be better than the film to even get published.

WEBRip RARBG.
