Ein paar gute Guerillakampfszenen, schöne Landschaftsaufnahmen von Ecuador, aber zwischendrin größere Längen ohne richtige Spannung und Tempo.

I want more suspense in my thrillers, but Crowe's command of the screen keeps this one going. Unlike most, I find the love triangle intriguing and well-handled in its conclusion. The idea just goes largely unexplored, which gives it the appearance of being tacked on. Overall, it is nothing great, but is pretty solid.

Solid action phase, well performed. Good story, good cast, well worth a look. I think it probably holds up well too given its age.

Hasn't aged well since I first saw it in 2000. Characters are annoying and hard to sympathize with. Meg Ryan seems like a real ditz and her sister-in-law is utterly screechy and hysterical. Tries to get a lot of mileage out of a bland premise.

Good start - bad ending. Decent Crowe, unconvincing Ryan. Excellent guess by the PSI though.

Ho hum hostage movie. All the points are for David Morse and the scene where the guy falls down in the jungle and takes a dog with him. Watch for it. Hilarity.

Having read much non-fiction about the SAS and SASR, I was surprised by the level of authenticity and realism of the action scene at the end. Even if you don't think the love interest between Meg and Russel would be your thing, know that the combat in this was done rightly.

Good hostage film, a little bleeding heart, but not unrealistically so.

The sensation that is the result might have been better. It is regrettable we see a movie that had everything to work and it finishes not convincing anybody. But it is not entirely disposable.

More like Proof of a malevolent force in the universe, actively working to bring suffering and death to unwitting victims.

This is what Russell Crowe's career looked like before Gladiator. Back in college I knew a guy that was just diehard in love with Meg Ryan due exclusively to this role.

Yawn. As much of a problem as this is/was in South America, this movie failed to get me to give a damn.

Meg sports impossible ugly mismatched outfits. The point of this movie is? Some pretty cool action, a few scenes that seem to have something to do with the actuality of kidnapping & recovery, & a bunch of crap.
