I use to think this was going to be one of those grown up, adult movies way back yonder so it probably wouldnt be for me. Well I am firmly in the grown up part of this hellish cinematic existence and baby this is an old person movie , it's so boring that I didnt even care I saw a bosom.

I'm somewhat bemused - almost flabbergasted, actually - that many (including the Academy) have held this nicely plotted, but peculiarly pitched near-dud in high esteem.

One of the more overrated Academy darlings.

The story is straight-out boring. Nicholson struggles with a stupid accent and there is no chemistry between him and Turner. A failed try at combining mob-comedy/drama with film noir. If you love this movie you are probably very old.

Where the heck were the laughs? For that matter, where's the entertainment? There's really nothing to this movie, it's attempt at black comedy fails so badly that, when stripped to it's foundation, all we have is a bare mob drama. Uninteresting, boring, and undeserving of acclaim or the names tied to it.

I really wonder where any of the budget went? Maybe to the real mob, an organization which this movie shames. I think Inspector Clouseau or Mr. Bean would run a better organized and scandal free syndicate. It feels as if they could only pay a few stars, and the rest of the cast came from a failing community theater. This wouldn't make it as a TV-movie now, and probably would have been derivative trash back in '85 as well. Everyone overacts, leading me to believe someone fixed the Oscar Noms.

A surprisingly incompetent movie. Huston and Turner are decent. Hickey is his usual, grotesque, beautiful self. Nicholson is laughably, distractingly bad. The sad thing is, there's an interesting plot, but every climactic moment is dumped out with no suspense. The shots are static and boring. A bad Godfather parody.

It's so verbose without being witty or funny it's barely a comedy, Nicholson's SNL-level Italian accent notwithstanding. Also how the fuck did Anjelica Huston get Best Supporting for this, that's even more undeserved than Marisa Tomei for My Cousin Vinny.

This film has fallen from my 1980's assessment of "brilliant" down to "really very good". Why the slight slope off? Mostly because I think it positions itself as a comedy, but it's not particularly funny. What it is is devilishly clever, with an amazingly black heart. I'm not surprised that it's adapted from a novel by Richard Condon because it's funny kind of in the same manner as "The Manchurian Candidate" (which might even be funnier).

Always called a black comedy. I really don't see it. It sucks.

There are some amusing moments but not enough for me to feel its primarily a comedy film - I'd say its more a crime drama film. If it weren't for Jack Nicholson and Kathleen Turner, this would be a much more cringe-worthy bad film but the main performances are entertaining enough for it to be worth a watch, as long as you have relatively low expectations - you may be pleasantly surprised but I doubt it'll be anyones favourite film. Its ok - amusing and diverting, if a little long winded perhaps.

So light it's almost not even there. Nicholson's must be one of the worst nominations in Oscar history. Was he mocking Brando in that other mafia movie?

Best seen as a comedy laced with darker thematic material, the film carries an odd tone that at least makes it interesting. Huston and Turner are especially good here, while Nicholson's dimwitted mafioso always finds himself overmatched, but still fighting for his own interests.

A deeply odd movie that suggests (as witnesses have told) that Huston was not at all well at this time. It can't decide whether it's a comedy or a tragedy and thus comes off as a lightweight, unfunny melodrama. The center of this problematic film is Nicholson in what is probably his worst performance after the Corman era (and possibly the most outright insane Oscar nom ever). It's like someone on Whose Line got asked to do "Jack Nicholson as a Brooklyn gangster", only that would likely be funny.

Good cast, good plot and effective if predictable twists. An overall worthwhile if somewhat old-fashioned film.

Was really looking forward to this one. What a disappointment. There was the potential for some great comedy out of this plot, but it felt like an overlong, uninteresting drama. Luckily, Jack Nicholson swoops in with his cool accent to redeem it slightly.

Great performances by Huston and Turner, but a second-rate impersonation from Nicholson. Still, it's a good story and an entertaining movie.

A big, sturdy slab of movie, befitting the towering figure who directed it. Huston's penultimate feature is a dark comedy thick with plot about the twists and turns within a crime family. Huston doesn't push too hard. He assembles all the complications and nuanced shadings with resolute patience and care, leaving plenty of room for his gifted cast to carry the storytelling burden with the potency of their interactions.

I've seen Prizzi's Honor twice now. The first time I absolutely hated it, the second I disliked it less. The problem the movie has is it just moves too slowly to be a light gangster flick, which I find to be a strange genre that hardly ever works anyway. I guess it's Huston's classical style of direction, but it just makes the film drag and drag. And Nicholson's mouthpiece (at least I hope it was a mouthpiece in there) may be the biggest distraction of all moviedom.

Condon's comic novel of love and "family" loyalty inside the Mafia has a long and tortuous plot, taken at a very slow walk by Huston (and, even so, with some very wide and wobbly turns). The pace allows you plenty of time to admire the design of the thing, and it gives the humor a dryness bordering on evaporation. For all the pokiness, there is too little development of the love match between a Brooklyn hit man and out-of-town hit woman.

Substandard for J Huston, but it does have some nifty acting by Nicholson and especially by Anjelica Huston. There's a great scene involving a knife, if I remember correctly.

Prizzi's Honor is very similar to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. A big difference between the two is that this one is better. Jack Nicholson fails to disappoint.

Before there was Mr. and Mrs. Smith, there was Prizzi's Honor. This is one slam bam great mob, comedy, romance. By far this is my favorite Angelica Houston movie. William Hickey is great too - how has he managed to look like he's going to die tommorow for the last 20 years?
