I loved this movie with so many subjects covered quite well. Keira Knightly was really good. Rosamund Pike and Donald Sutherland also good. Matthew Macfadyen was mysteriously entertaining. The setting and back story are all very interesting and engaging. Refinement and impropriety has never been covered so well as in this film. It was hilarious to see Jena Malone and Carey Mulligan play the silly younger sisters. Excellent performances all around, good music, excellent scenery. So much to like.

Intricate direction and inspired performances make this film feel immersive and lived-in. The small, quiet details - a flexing hand, a silent look - are everything ... Until a liquid gold sunset, a foggy morning, a windy hill overwhelms you with beauty: the cinematography is incredible. The film nails the profoundly small and the stunningly expansive, and everything lives harmoniously rent-free in my head. I love, I love ... I love it.

An incredibly watchable telling of Jane Austen's classic that only gets richer with repeated viewings. Somehow this film does not feel stale or rigid - as period pieces often can feel - but it has a large degree of vitality and life running throughout it.

Brilliant stuff. A fantastic performance by Knightly. Actually, by everyone really (though the youngest Bennet's are a pain in the arse. I believe that's meant to be though). Sure, this is essentially the stuff of a million Mills and Boon books, but when its this well written and acted who cares?

Perhaps the most beautiful film I've ever seen. I was gasping for breath at the light. Yet I hope there's a better P&P adaptation out there. Additionally, there's some hilarious camera moves that remind me of Indian soap operas. ----- just rewatched in 2018. it's still fucking lush

My recent viewings of these types of films (European period films?) have all been melodramatic; either a mistress and wife bickering or a sudden death that shocks all involved. This does away with the 'norm' and tells a simple, yet elegant story of love. As with most of her films, Keira Knightley gives an excellent performance.

Great filmadaptation of some 19th century literature. However the book is 200 years old, the story is still as romantic as it could be. Characters are true and believable and the whole scenery is mesmerizing. Of course very clichéd and predictable but still, this film defenitely outmatches other films in its genre.

Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightly) is a proud, but penniless woman in the class-conscious times of!8th century England. This classic Jane Austin tale reveals the misunderstandings of the heart in a time of a condescending society.

The story of two head strong jerks who finally realize they're just headstrong and jerk enough for each other. Quite pretty, solid performances all around, and the light comedy does translate well hundreds of years later. Maybe all it takes for me to enjoy a silly romantic comedy is period costumes and a slightly too serious tone, because I liked this one, and I usually hate the things.

I appreciate this movie most for Kiera Knightley's weird-ass face (as opposed to a weird ass-face, which she most certainly does not have) and because the dance party reminds me of The West Wing. Yeah, you heard me.

Argh! I love this movie an unhealthy amount. I read the book a bit in High School, thought it boring. the movie, and 15+ years on me, brought me back. I've not seen the BBC production _yet_, but I admire this movie for making the core of the story work in a standard movie timeline, even if they cuffed up the ending for a more standard "Hollywood" style. Plus, Keira simply rocks. Perhaps I'm biased by seeing the movie "first", but her tomboyish-yet-pretty girl looks seem tailor-made f

Ah, I have such a crush on Mr. Darcy. I detest romance stories but this actually feels awfully realistic. Jane Austen's caustic wit, combined with excellent performances, visually stunning cinematography and a beautiful soundtrack, tells the story of two people so unlikely to tolerate one another and yet with such intertwined traits that, amidst their flaws and misconceptions, find affection and attachment. At the end, I couldn't help but grin like a kid with a lollipop. Still - a mere romance.

Yet another Jane Austen film adaptation about poor girls of the English countryside marrying their way into the upper class. Sure, we've seen it all before, but a solid script, high production values and a likable cast make it fresh and enjoyable. Somehow, this familiar tale of unspoken passions and ridiculous politeness is weirdly engaging and the insight it offers into an era when everything was so by-the-book and conservative, is undeniably fascinating.

Visually sumptuous, but it manages to miss the spirit of the book almost completely. Most of the characters are so poorly fleshed out that they almost all come off annoying instead of sympathetic (very un-Austen), and the badly enunciated and recorded dialogue doesn't help. Judi Dench, though, has a great bitchy turn as the Lady Catherine de Bourg. The soundtrack features the most annoying piano music in a movie since "The Piano", and you hear it over and over and over again.
