Not great at all, but Woods' role/performance in this is FUCKING hysterical, no exaggeration.

Like a less-wilder WILD THINGS, this is far too broad and scattershot in tone for it to pick up speed like it should – this should either be far more “wild” and venal, or more focused and perceptive ala ELECTION; the swings from pillar to post leave a fine cast doing good work essentially hung out to dry. Wood, Woods and Krakowski are all particularly great, but they belong in a different movie less afraid to truly go for broke.

Pretty Persuasion is a jet black comedy about a sociopathic high school girl. Evan Rachel Wood nails it as the protagonist. James Woods is a maniac.

Why do writers always want to portray highly intelligent people as evil incarnate. Evan Rachel Wood is pretty and smart, setting up the ultimate revenge for a high school grudge. She plays the part flawlessly, and is quite calculating and ultimately devastating. The story is unpredictable to the end. There are several funny and intensely interesting scenes, and a lot of adolescent setup. Good story and script makes it feel believable to the end. Excellent music.

Pretty Persuasion is a good film but isn't as smart or clever as it wants to be, and is also a bit too mean-spirited for some audience members. But if you're not bothered by near-constant racial slurs and insults aimed at all groups of people, then you'll find a sharp satire that's consistently funny and will make you laugh with its social commentary, led by a strong performance by Evan Rachel wood and a scene-stealing one turned in by James Woods.

Top badass moment? Much though it pains me to choose it, basically anything Kimberly Joyce does. A master manipulator. Being in control of everything without anyone realising you are is, reluctantly, badass behaviour, but badass behaviour of the worst sort. It's not funny but it's very, very clever. 0 cats and 0 decapitations.

I did laugh but the whole thing was a bit choppy with the narrative. I actually should have summed it up in one word, ''Awkward''!

The characters were all very interesting and the movie definitely pushes some boundaries, but the big closing reveal actually ends up being a real letdown. The last scene or two makes the movie crumble and I call B.S.
