Miscast. Brody is no Schwarzenegger, that's for sure. Topher Grace is neither funny nor likable here. Braga was cute back in 'City of God' but this role calls more for a Michelle Rodriguez-type attitude which she hasn't a chance of pulling off. And don't get me started on Fishburne! The rest is servicable. The real problem, however, is a lack of affinity for the material. It's not campy enough to be laughable, not serious enough to be scary nor gripping, winding up being blandly disappointing.

I don't see whats all that bad about this one. It manages to feel a bit more like the first movie without trying to be a copycat. It's got plenty of muscular action and good makeup and production design. It also tends to dig a little deeper into the lore, which I appreciated a lot as a fan of the franchise. A good plot and interesting characters and casting made this a solid movie and, for me, a welcoming return to the franchise. It won't win everybody over, but it's very entertaining.

A curiously joyless movie. While I can't very well say it isn't better than the AvPs, those at least prompted some sort of emotional reaction from me (guess which), whereas Predators left me cold. It is at the very least competently directed and acted. Unfortunately, none of the characters, including the titular monsters, held much interest. I think it may be time to accept that the Predator concept just didn't have enough to it to warrant more than the original film.

What a surprisingly kick ass movie. In fact, I wasn't expecting much, especially since it was done at Troublemaker Studios (not saying Troublemaker sucks, just didn't think they would effectively pull of a Predator flick) and of course this was also after the blunders of AVP. Much to my delight, this movie blew me away. It just starts out so intense, a man wakes up in free fall in an alien sky, an alarm sounds, a parachute deploys way too close and then he hits ground and BOOM, "Predators".

I kind of expected a little more predators than just the three. Either you have one monster or you have a shit load of monsters. How did they come up with only three? Coming out of the theater my friends discussed various elements of the movie I had already forgotten. Only thing I remember was that the skinny guy from 'The Pianist' was supposed to be the tough guy.

The opening of this movie is pretty intriguing. Sadly they waste a lot of potential and it becomes really boring and pretty damn stupid. Adrien Brody must've seen the new Batman films a few too many times cause he is trying really hard to be Christian Bale. Has a few nice references to the original but all in all pretty shitty and the predators really don't seem that threatening considering how "badass" they are supposed to be.

I genuinely had a fun time. The opening scene was great, and while the rest of the movie doesn't live up to it (in fact I would say it always gets slightly worse the more it goes on) I didn't think it was as bad as many other people seem to think. In fact I think I liked it more than the first film.

The film has an excellent premise, a brilliant idea for this film's sequel. It's starts out promising, but the film lacks the excellent pacing of the original. There is no suspense or anticipation between the monster's kills. If anything, most of the actual action is exceedingly boring. The dialogue is riddled with a sense of false self-importance. And the twist of turning Topher into some diabolical super villain was predictable, while also completely unsatisfying and ridiculous.

It's not as good as the original 2 movies, but it's light years better than the AvP movies. The script is acceptable, but tries nothing new, and feels paint-by-numbers at times - including the tacked-on character plot twist. The cast was surprisingly okay, except for Alice Braga, and the effects were great, except for the CGI thorn dog things. The movie is 'fine' until Fishburne shows up, then the movie picks up and becomes a solid action flick. Not bad.

A more enjoyable action movie than the latest entries in the Predator series, but it's not really as likable as the original. It's intriguing, before it meanders, and the action is exciting before they slow down for ineffective character focus. That being said, it will definitely pass the time and keep you reasonably entertained, as long as you're not expecting the campy violence of Schwarzenegger's version.

A big dumb action flick that serves as a decent throwback to the 80's style. Big guns, big explosions and two huge aliens fist fighting in the mud. The characters are more like archetypes than real people, but they're all admirably gruff and the action is coherently filmed. You could do a lot worse.

Debatably a better film than Predator 2, but this film doesn't have Busey or Screaming Danny Glover (TM). As a result, the camp factor is missing. Some real cool parts and another great performance by Walton Goggins (along with a hilarious performance by Fishburne) do not a great film make. Worth a rental while consuming many substances.

Predators never really reaches the territory of "bad film" but it certainly isn't a good film either. While Adrien Brody is a competent lead the supporting cast quality is quite mixed. Lawrence Fishburne is superb but Topher Grace feels out of place, though this is more due to a crappy character than anything else. Predators is certainly better than the AvP as of late but it doesn't live up to the original by any means.

The testosterone of this movie flies off the screen and hits you hard. You will feel like a man (even if you're a woman). I myself am planning to get a sex change now. Many people were giggling in the theatre, because it was so ridiculous(ly awesome). I'm glad the producers of this movie decided to make a bare-chest fight scene. A solid continuation of the first Predator film. Fishburne doesn't do the movie any favors, but the rest of the film is in some parts true to the feel of Predator and others a direct homage to it. Fans of the first movie should not be disappointed, finally, in a decent Predator film.

Never credits the viewer with perceiving the mythology behind the alien race or rewards his/her attention. The characters seem to mirror those of the 87' classic, but are nowhere near as badass, charismatic or memorable. The 3rd act is fairly entertaining, although it doesn't detract from the bland, uninvolving snore that is 'Predators'. You'll be looking for a word which sums up your overal feeling, when leaving the theatre... that word is "bleh".

The ending's iffy, but I'm not sure why this didn't do better. The actors & performances (esp Brody & Fishburne) are the best in the franchise & although the characterizations aren't any more fleshed out than any John Carpenter hit, they feel less cartoony. What works best - & better than any film in the franchise by far -is the script which realizes that the best way to handle stock characters like these is to drop them into a mystery, add a surprise or 2, & keep the plot moving.

Sure, the self-serious expository dialogue is a little contrived and cheesy at points (lots of "what's going on?!") but when the actual plot is written and directed as well as it is, you can let it slide. Right from the opening pre-title plunge, the unraveling mystery and monster-suspense-while nothing groundbreaking-is presented appreciably well (acting, cinematography, and music are all solid). The first character twist is a good one, but the last one isn't (where was the motivation?).

This is personally my favorite of the franchise. I'm not one for the big muscle/military force of the first because it's seems so cliche. This just seems more grounded. A group of random people, with different skills and traits banding together to stay alive is just more entertaining to me. The movie clearly has its faults, but some of the traps, and obstacles they come across are interesting. You also do feel a bit of camaraderie between Brody and Braga's characters. I like it.

Basically repeats the videogame/survival set-up from the first, but this time it advances a bit in mythology as we follow human monsters, as Alice Braga's characters says, facing otherwordly monsters - as Laurence Fishburne's crazy characters shows and as we learned from P2, when Glover received a 19 century gun from the predators, this has been happening for centuries. Some nicely staged scenes - the corridors in Noland's fort, the yakuza warrior fighting with a samurai sword. Decent actioner.

The third installment in the "Predator" franchise is an average sci-fi/action movie, and a decent addition to the series. Surprisingly the film manages to stay engaging enough off the strength of its premise along side some serviceable action. Despite some odd casting choices, the generic characters are acted well enough to keep you interested as they die. Unfortunately the film rides the line between fun B-movie cheese and generic sci-fi/action, so it becomes nothing more than just disposable.

Servicable sci-fi/action yarn does what it sets out to do and little more; works best in the initial stages when the menace is unseen, but becomes nothing more than a defiant time-killer at the midpoint. Brody makes for an amusingly unlikely (but ultimately convincing) action hero, though it was a mistake for him to so closely ape Schwarzeneggar's iconic deneumont line (and look) from the original film.

Predators is the sequel that the first deserved, back to the basics of what made the first film great: top tier soldiers fighting an alien that hunts them for sport. The eclectic "deadliest warrior" mix of modern day action film stereotypes that fill out the fodder (yakuza henchman, drug cartel henchman, serial killer etc) work surprisingly well and the characters get more dimension than expected. Its an interstellar homicidal underdog story, well deserving of association with the original.

Let's be honest; the Aliens/Predator franchises were pretty much in the shitter anyway. Compared to recent output, Predators is a huge step forward. There's plenty to criticize for the critical viewer, but I was mainly happy it didn't blow. Sure, Brody seems like a poor man's Hugh Jackman here, some of the characters were wasted and the whole experience isn't terribly original... but I found it to be decent entertainment nonetheless. But can we get a better script next time, please?

So bad that all it needs is 'yo mamma' to be a joke. Think of any possible aspect of movie-making, and it is substandard here. Completely pointless, adding nothing to the mythos, the actors must have caught on, as they look dead tired, walking between the two plot points of 'Crash landing' to 'Who's-left-standing'. You'll NEVER guess who survives... A poorer film than AVP2 if you can get yourself to believe it. And now, if you'll excuse me, I totally forgot that I'm an insane serial killer!

One of the best sequels ever! The film does stay very true to the original all the way. The characters develop a lot in a great pace film with a simple plot that expands into several minor plots. There is one character that seems to be a badass in the film but ultimately has a sucky ending, I am referring to Laurence Fishburne's character. The Predators are really awesome and dark and the environment the characters are put in is very realistic, the best part of the film is the music score, havin

Surprisingly good. It copies a lot of the elements that made the original so enjoyable, along with some that are more reminiscent of the Alien films, and that's okay. A couple of bits don't make sense when you look at the bigger picture, but it's still a tense, effective film that takes many unexpected turns. The only acting criticism I would deliver would be that I can't buy Brody as the tough guy he's supposed to be--he just doesn't have the demeanor.

It's not a great movie, but of course it's not trying or pretending to be. What it is is a burst of sweaty, pulpy fun that makes up for its lack of brains by having a pulse and some balls and the feeling that someone was alive behind the camera compared to most of the sterile cartoons that they've been calling action movies this summer (Prince of Persia, Clash of the Titans, etc).

Brody and Braga are great Most of the support is okay too, except for Grace, who should stop trying to be a serious actor. The pacing is tight and never hangs around for long. I don't know if Silvestri did the score or if they reused his previous work, but it's the glue that makes the whole thing feel like a Predator movie. Sadly there's so many silly nonsensical moments (samurai showdown) that even a silly movie like this can't withstand it all, and the hokey dialogue goes just a bit too far.

So this is the script they finally settled on? After 19 years? Predators is a rather unimaginative reboot that seems rushed and takes far too long to get going; until the Predators show up around 65 mins in, the human conflicts struggle to maintain interest. Brody isn't entirely convincing as the action hero---his gruff voice borders on parody--but he is OK, and the final action sequences are relatively well done, if unremarkable. A samurai sword fight with a Predator is the highlight.

A few good action scenes but most of the time I was frustrated with the writing and how they just threw some big name actors at the audience and expected us to connect. I listened to comedian Joe Derosa talk about this and he brought up 2 good points. 1) 30 minutes in the original Predator, a single predator killed Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura, these predators suck. 2) The pacing is far to fast to make any of it humanizing. Hats off to Adrien Brody, as he legitimately pulls off the Action Hero thing here, which is surprising considering, well, he's Adrien Brody. Hopefully he gets a chance to do it again in a movie that's better than this, but he and a few of the other actors manage to make this film a decently good show. Also, what was the point of Laurence Fishburne's character?

A "return to roots" in the Predator franchise. And that might maybe be the main problem with the movie. From every angle, the original Predator is better than this one. Still, a warm welcome after all that Alien versus Predator crap.

I really liked the group dynamics and the characters in the first hour and the 30 min action part wasn't bad either.

Not the best in the predator range, but watchable nonetheless. But Alice Braga should have been replaced by Michelle Rodriguez. Maybe an interesting follow-up would be a story based on the predator home-planet.

The cast feels thrown together with a mish-mash of passable to bad acting. Some of the "actors" were miscast (Taktarov/Goggins/Grace) and gave it a distinctly campy tv movie vibe. The film was sorely lacking in gritty personality, atmosphere, and tension which the original had in spades. It's a half-assed attempt that tries to mimic everything right down to the guns. The effects were decent if sparse. Overall disappointing and a rather by the numbers Robert Rodriguez production.

The definition of a well paced movie. Not much else. Kudos to the predator 1 references.

At least its better than both AVP movies. Slightly disappointing, but I knew it wasn't going to be better than the original just on principle. Not a particularly terrible sci-fi flick in and of itself, it simply need more of the namesake aliens and far more action. Fishburne was good, for all of 5 minutes.

I do not like much of action flicks, but this was something different. Very well done scifi action, honest for the original, good effects and the whole concept was renewed from previous films. Adrien Brody was clearly the leader of the back, though all did they part good.

Concept wise this is strong. I actually like how the movie started and I think it works well enough as a predator movie. The second half lost some focus and is too dark. It somewhat managed to piece things together at the end still not the impact of the original but not a bad effort.

There are some really boring sequences, such as the Noland-Roland part, Predator blood feud(?) etc. For an action movie it drags too much. Even though it clocks around 2 hours, characters are these archetypes friendly big Russian guy, silent Yakuza bla bla. I especially can't stand Topher Grace and his revelation was stupid. You remember instantly that this was a Rodriguez flick when you see Trejo, and it's just that: another Rodriguez flick, entertaining and boring at the same time.

Solid genre flick, competently directed action, very taut, suspense driven opening with a not so terrible finish. Knows exactly what kind of movie it is and delivers.

Not bad, nor terrific. Merely as I expected with no surprises. I should mention I haven't seen the previous Predator films, however, I doubt their importance.

I liked it, so there. I thought it was a decent chapter in the Predator universe (much more so than any film that has come around since the original). It has some issues, but overall it's okay.

(spoil alert) Great popcorn movie: special effects, watch it with your friends. Very Predictable. The predator fight could have been much better. No new amazing weapons. It's Hollywood recycling at its best, ergo, not too good.

what is "Predator 3" although it ignores part 2 is a pretty good action film and it has some cool looking predators in it, loved the use of the original films score and some of the homages
