This is me in a nutshell. Even now I think this movie is terrible, but when I go to rate it I think about the upside down Colombian ritualistic murder, followed by the Jamaican slaughter scene, Gary Busey, the ship and the trophies, Gary Busey, an underrated Bill Paxton role, Gary Busey, Danny Glover playing Mel Gibson from Lethal Weapon which is weird, plus Gary Busey meets his demise in a meat locker...for no real reason at all. God, I want to watch this again.

I personally thought this was just fine. Now, comparatively, this is probably nowhere near as good as the first film, so don't go in expecting it to be. Still, there was some really good action and Glover delivers a worthy lead performance, and some of the supporting cast is good. The new concepts added to the Predator are really cool and the practical effects are still top notch in my opinion. It's not a great movie but it is a fairly entertaining take on the Predator.

The follow up sequel to the 80s action classic "Predator"(1987) is a disappointing mixed bag of a movie. The film features interesting ideas, action pieces, and scenes but then you get some terrible acting, goofy dialogue, or some generic schlock to go with it all. This sequel feels jammed full of different influences like "RoboCop"(1987), "Lethal Weapon"(1987), "Die Hard"(1988), and some "They Live"(1988) more so than the original movie. Daydreams about adding Schwarzengger into this movie....

Sometimes too cartoonish (predator hunts heavy-armed Colombian and Jamaican gang members), but Danny delivers as fearless LAPD veteran trying to avenge his partner. Doesn't quite work as the urban jungle expansion of the first movie, mainly because Hopkins is no McT, but there are some good action scenes - subway killing - and its 45 final minutes really makes the case for mythology - Harrigan discovers the ship, Alien and human skulls, meets lots of them and is spared to tell the story.

This is not a sequel to the first Predator movie; instead it's the urban remake. Glover is a great action star on top of being a good actor. No, it's not as good as Predator, but it's a hell of a lot better than AVP. Fair movie.

A proper sequel to the first movie, for sure, but it's hurt by the ending and a few cheese-tastic scenes. Still, great film for creature/sci-fi/actions fans, and Glover was the right man for the job. Tons of violence and great lines, and Bill Paxton rocks the house, too.

I have no excuse as to how it took me 27 years to see this for the first time. Finally bought the DVD for $3 at a used record store in New Paltz. Goofy ass shit. More screen time for Gary Busey would've been a huge improvement (for me, anyway, I love that crazy fuck).

Lots of cringe-worthy sleazy action-movie schlock (cue the boobs and blood and Busey and cartoon-ish stereotyped baddies) but it's mostly balanced out by the solid quartet of protagonists (Glover's renegade Mike has a great dynamic with Paxton's goofy Jerry) driving forward the story. The third act drags on though, and because it's an investigative plot and not a survival one, it raises a lot of questions surrounding the Predator's motivations (the biggest being why is here in the first place?)

I'm considerably a bigger fan of Glover than I am Arnold, and Glover did solid in his absence. Paxton and Busey are fun supporting characters to say the least, and even if the LA setting is kind of generic, it works for me, even though the whole crime/detective tone to this movie has been played plenty of times. These movies live and die by the predator itself, and admittedly it's just as great as the original and if you enjoy the original you should have some fun with it.

Similar to the films of the Alien franchise, I like that the sequel is the basic premise interpreted as a different style of movie. Predator was classic Commando-esque Schwarzenegger. Predator 2 was like Lethal Weapon meets Robocop. Also shows off more of the Predator and their history without over-explaining. Don't know what puts so many people off about this one.

Wildly entertaining in its dialogue, costuming, and 1997 dystopian setting of Los Angeles, Predator 2 has aged well. The Mexican and Jamaican street gangs are not only figuratively but literally demonized, overdetermined in a way that characters in the Mad Max franchise can be. Danny Glover is our straight man hero, but he's surrounded by wacky personalities like Gary Busey's official and especially Bill Paxton's self-obsessed cop. The Predator's swearing is a high point.

Still pretty decent action schlock that has the essential elements covered (action, gore, cheesy writing) but nothing special that would stay with you. Characters are bland and generic but get you through the carnage well enough. Same goes for the story and setting that have some potential but end up being used in the most superficial yet functional way.

So this movie really surprised me with who was in it. I mean Danny Glover is a strange choice for the hero of this sci-fi flick. I was also quick to notice that Bill Paxton was in the second Alien movie and the second Predator movie. So I think he should be in the second Prometheus movie for sure!
Adam Baldwin and Gary Busey were also a fun team of special agents in this.

This doesn't deserve nearly half the hate that it gets. The predator effects are well done and putting this in a future urban environment is interesting. This is pretty typical fare. The only thing I really don't get is why they had to shove in that whole FBI vs. local cops BLAH BLAH jurisdictions BLAH BLAH "we're running the show here now" BLAH BLAH "FUCK THE FEDS" spiel in there. Is that the most tired plot device in the book or what? Other than that, the main problem is that the characters are unusually uninteresting and underdeveloped for this kind of movie. Danny Glover is pretty good, but everyone else sucks.

Passable but ultimately dull sequel-cum-remake has some intriguing elements: making Glover the 'Riggs' wild-card is an interesting choice, with Glover overplaying to an amusing degree, and having an eccentric Paxton wandering around the edges is always welcome, but the Predator itself feels like an awkward, arbitrary tack-on to a cop movie that wasn't coming together; the plotting (and action scenes) feeling very familiar from Part 1. The criminal waste of Busey might be the film's biggest sin!

Top badass moment? Being buried under an avalanche of clichés within the first five minutes. Danny Glover desperately runs around looking for Mel Gibson, only to hook up with a singer/songwriter with an 80’s hairdo, a punk from The Terminator and a guy who looks like Ned Gerblanski from South Park. Meanwhile, the Predator shows us he’s a big fan of MacGyver by turning ordinary bathroom tiles into an awesome blood clotting, painkilling, antibiotic. 2 decapitations, no cats or chainsaws.

A rather lukewarm film that follows the main premise of the first one, but this time around the setting is not a Latin American jungle but Los Angeles. Even without drawing comparisons to 1987's "Predator", this is a second-rate effort at best, with mostly mediocre acting and a lack of personality. It definitely picks up during the more action-packed second half but remains a pretty underwhelming offering. The slightly bigger insight we get on the Predator is arguably a plus though.

Not a bad sequel at all, but hardly great. The titular monster's film entirely, it adds a lot more of the lore to the Yautja/Predators. Sadly, the rest of the film weighs it down, with the exception of Busey & Glover's voices. Also has a far superior ending than the first film.

Predator 2 is definitely one of the most disappointing sequels I can recall. The first film had a 100% guarantee winning formula. But this sequel is just a lazily executed cash in that stupidly doesn't give fans of the first film more of the same. I love Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon films but he lacks the charisma and presence here than Arnold Schwarzenegger brings to the original. And I wanted more input from Paxton, Busey & Davi. The premise of Predator in LA could of been so much better.

Unfortunately, another case of this franchise's fantastic concepts and terrible execution. Danny Glover is the shining star of this movie as he struggles to keep this movie afloat. All of the other acting is sub-par at best. Meanwhile the setting and story were just not as good as the first one. Not terrible but disappointing. Overall, I wish this movie was better but is only really kept afloat by it's lead, its a bit above average direction and great concept.

hopkins is obviously a huge mctiernan and cameron fan, and with a better cast and some rewrites this could've been good. but after arnie, glover seems more like predator-roadkill, and he's anything but a charismatic lead. in fact the overall acting sucks immensely, most dialog sounds off, as if horribly dubbed. the metro scene and almost everything that ensues is just ridiculous. but if you had to suffer through the AvP- and Predators crap, you might still enjoy some ideas here.

With such a silly script its hard to replicate the magic from part one. Goodbye claustrophobic atmospheric predator becomes the prey sort of movie, hello over the top, horrible one liners (and since its sequel, of course,) way more dead people. Still entertaining, since predator owns, but on the cinematic level it performs slightly above average, if even average at all.A by the book standard early 90''s action flick, on par with Van damme or Seagal stuff. But with more budget.

So ridiculous it's downright comedic in parts. I'm still laughing to myself at the fact that Danny Glover wields a Desert Eagle pistol with a rifle scope on it. With that said the characters are all oozing over the top cliche, which isn't a good thing when you're supposed to be actually afraid. Unlike the relatively slow but increasingly suspenseful original film this blasts you right into action and the predator. It doesn't really work and thenOH HAY it's Adam Baldwin, awesome!
