David Rousseau (Rouve) is a cult novelist whose books likely to be appreciated for their titles rather than their literary qualities. When he travels on family business to the distant mountain village of Mouthe , he nearly stumbles onto the corpse of Candice Lecoeur (Sophie Quinton), by far the town's most attractive specimen, and also a minor celebrity thanks to her steamy news weathercasts and erotic advertisements for a local brand of cheese called "Belle de Jura."

Definitely not what I was expecting. The setting and plot seem banal at first, but who doesn't love a good framing device and a 50s pin-up girl? The way this mutates into a psychological drama about a writer's obsession with his subject and descent into a sort of madness, is very well handled and more than substantial enough to sustain a compelling narrative. I'll remember the name, Hustache-Mathieu, and try to see his next film.

bland, unengaging - different parts of the film has some qualities but the overall plots reeks of indifferent quirkyness.

There are so many similarities or should i say references to Lynch's cult Tv Series Twin Peaks. It's good. :)
