It was kind of like Jojo Rabbit with Jesus, so I had to check to see which came out first. I don't understand why the Russian and American characters were played by different actors. Not having the grandmother in the second half was a loss. I'm not a fan of the "homophobic character is secretly queer" trope but this is supposedly based on a true story. Fav scene: the ad urging Russian women to sign up to be mail order brides by misrepresenting American husbands as cowboys, lawyers, and cowboys.
