Pot o' Gold

In which Jimmy Stewart gaslights his on-screen uncle and Paulette Goddard is almost made to look dull. It's all a bit too gay (i.e., light-hearted and carefree) for its own good. The musical numbers are mostly annoying and/or half-hearted.

James Stewart didn't like it, and I can understand that. It's not exactly a artists dream to be in a musical farce like this. However, from a entertainment point-of-view, Pot o' Gold (1941) is full of little pleasantries. Jimmy even sings a little! Charles Winninger is pretty great as the hot headed uncle. And you can't help but melt when Paulette Goddard is on. So while it's a fairly lowbrow affair, one can easily go along with the pointless fun and smile at the whole thing.
