An ok remake, it was certainly not as bad as everyone expected. Plus, Fergie gets crushed to death! What more can you ask of a film, honestly.

The original features the Velveeta-inspired ballad "The Morning After". This one features Fergie belting out a series of "keep movin' it, movin' it, movin' its". I think that says something, but for the life of me, I don't know what. Bad remake of a mediocre original.

Poseidon is formulaic, predictable, and doesn't contain deep characters or impressive performances. Despite this, it's still kind of fun. It also has very solid special effects, so if you just want to see some eye candy, you'll leave happy. When we're watching the characters try to figure out a way to escape the ship, it's simply dumb fun. And seeing some of the hindrance characters actually die instead of costing the good characters their lives is probably more enjoyable than it should be.

Superbly mounted disaster film does everything right for its genre -- supplying hair-raising action/destruction scenes, a cast of likable actors and characters, and tight pacing (plus a lack of hokey references to the 70s original) which easily helps the viewer navigate any implausabilities in logic and characterisation. Bulk of the praise goes to great action director Petersen, though he is well served by all facets of the production resulting in a memorable (and exciting) film experience.

Worth seeing just for the special effects, which are absolutely top notch. The acting is lame and the characters are boring and the progression of deaths is predictable, but wow what a ship. In a way it's like a re-imagining of Titanic, except that the ship capsizes first before sinking, and the music is way better.

First 20 minutes of this suck. Everything up to the big wave. The problem is, none of the characters we're introduced to are likeable. The opposite for the most part. So your waiting for the wave, which is inevitable but shouldn't be the case. In all event movies your waiting for the event, but the characters should make the wait worthwhile. Here they don't. The wave is pretty and everything, the whole set piece is very well done but what follows is basically a bigger budget version of one o

Why did we need a SECOND remake of THE POSIEDON ADVENTURE less than a year after it was remade for TV? Why did we need a remake of THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE _at all_?? Who gets paid to make these kind of decisions and how can I get his damn job?

How about Lucas' laugh, am I right? It's like this was just a fun ride on a rollercoaster instead of a deadly disaster. Speaking of laughs, the first act characterization here is laughably poor and pointless (none of these storylines are followed up on so why have them in the first place?). The escape action is top notch though; each intense interior set piece (the elevator shaft crossing and vent climb are two highlights) builds effectively upon the last to create a real sense of suffocation.

A boring and predictable remake that never should have been made. It wastes a top line cast, and made some really impressive special effects of the ocean liner turned upside down worthless. Do yourself a favor and see the original "The Poseidon Adventure" with Gene Hackman. The best quote about this movie was from Carol Lynley (star of the original TPA) who walked out of the Hollywood premiere and said "I liked our movie better."

Titanic'e kafa tutan film. Titanic tarzı okyanusta yüzen Poseidon gemisi dev tsunami dalgası sonucu alabora olur. Hayatta kalan yolcular gemiden kurtulmaya çalışır. Dalga çarpma sahnesi çok iyi. Fakat sonrası ağır bir kurtulma hikayesi. Filmin sonunda yaşayanlar olsa da 2.Titanic izletmesi dezavantaj. Hain Wolfgang Petersen. Fergie'yi niye öldürdün?

It's just not as fun or exciting as a movie with this premise should be. It captures not the terror and panic of claustrophobia but the BOREDOM of claustrophobia. Mostly dull characters and a poor sense of the ship's internal geography. (Seriously, all action filmmakers: Watch Die Hard again. Study how McTiernan lays out the internal geography of Nakatomi Plaza. Take notes.) Great special effects, though.

Decently entertaining, but so bloody listless. Petersen (working with ships and water for the umpteenth time) seems bored out of his brain by the material. Unlike the Irwin Allen original, this one doesn't delight in the death and danger it creates -- hell, the death scenes barely even register. The opening shot (the longest and most expensive piece of effects work ever put to film) is stunning. Maybe with a director who cared, or even wanted to have fun with it, this could have been something.
