They shot a German and French version of this film, and this is the French one and Anton Walbrook does the same role as in the German one, but they swapped the leading lady, with Danielle Darrieux doing the yellowface as his Japanese wife. It's a fairly good war drama with a pinch of espionage thrown in. Perhaps since this was a multi-language production it lacks the finesse to be truly great, but it's okay.
