Poor Cinderella

I loved that this was in color but I was surprised to see her be a redhead. Aside from that its not very good.

Firstly, I haven't seen any other Betty Boop movies, but why, oh why, her & prince's faces are so ugly? Another disturbing things happen when the fairy godmother says "Pretty Cinderella,you're unhappy, I can see" when she's crying. She must be effin' mind-reader.This fairy is also quite perverted, stripping Cinderella with her magic in the middle of the night and on the street. Blue lizards and a singing horse are scary as fuck. Everything looks like someone drugged's dream. Good music saves it.

Although inferior to Technicolor, I thought Fleischer's use of the two-strip Cinecolor processes actually left enough contrast to allow the beauty of the Stereoptical backgrounds to emerge. I find it funny seeing the now-much-maligned teal-orange pairing used throughout this short from the early days of color. In short, I just thought everything in this two-reeler worked.

Less satisfying than other Boopers. We've all seen this story 203,849,458 times (and I'm too old for this fairy-tale shit anyway), the gags are far less clever than usual, and after about three minutes I wished they'd knock it off with the heaps of goddamn songs already. Cab Calloway was sorely missed

One of the weakest Betty Boop cartoons, if not the weakest, disregarding the fact that it's the only one that's in color.
