A fine screenplay by Jonathan Latimer, great noir photography from Jack Draper (who worked primarily in Mexico, at least once for Boetticher and once for Bunuel), and excellent direction from Farrow. Glenn Ford adds his usual troubled nervous energy, and both Patricia Medina and Diana Lynn have parts that allow them to show subtlety and depth. Sullivan and McClory are excellent, and the movie shifts artfully from Maltese Falcon intrigue to full-blown treasure hunt. Very enjoyable.

Great build-up with lots of intrigues till we see the ruins, then it loses some steam and grinds to its expected ending.
