Attorney Craig Carlson confronts his best friend, Joe, to explain that Joe's wife, Myra, intends to divorce Joe to marry Craig. Joe is obviously upset and plans to "discuss" things with his wife. When Joe is found shot by Myra, Craig's problems begin as he represents Myra in court pleading self defense.

Not particularly believable, but there's some excellent deception and cruelty. Not Lansbury's best work, but worthwhile. "I didn't love her--I worshiped her."

I thought I might have found a hidden gem, but alas, it failed to keep up the intrigue of those first twenty minutes. Still, good cast, taut direction, and economical runtime make this a decent watch.

I can't see Lansbury as anything other than a little old woman. That makes it hard to buy her character but I don't know if that's her fault or mine. Also, the underlying premise of the film makes no sense. Luckily most of the film is flashback and that part is pretty good thanks to Burr's performance.
