A deplorable sports-themed romantic comedy that not only isn't funny whatsoever, but is also misogynistic in the way that it treats its female characters as sex-obsessed lunatics. The terrible script undermines the talent of the cast, and has an over-reliance on genre cliches. The only good thing here (and calling it good is being generous) is the father-son relationship that has a few heartfelt moments.

Watching a game from lower leagues can be rewarding, and there are a few decent players in this one - but it's a messy field, resulting in a mudbowl where glimpses of some quality are random and rare. *Preview*: #13#, exp-2*, popcorn, story, cast, R1.

A boring and predictable romantic comedy centered around soccer moms having sex with a Scottish guy. Gerard Butler attempts to make his lead character realistic, but with a poor script and execution, the movie is just another shitty addition to the genre.

It's all been done before, far more successfully. Not quite as terrible as I'd anticipated, but it's still bad news when your attempts at sports commentating are outshone by Billy Crystal in Parental Guidance. Sorry, Mr. Butler.

I'm not sure of the point this Romantic comedy was making. Maybe the point was actually written into one of Butler's lines "it's the accent". Women are falling all over Butler in this movie where he is a super star soccer player. None of these women have ever seen him play, but I guess he's good looking and has an accent. Jessica Biel needed a bigger part to help fix this. I was surprised at the super-star cast but the poor writing and plot keeps this movie in the forgettable category.

This is your typical romantic comedy with an incredible A-list cast but the movie consists of a predictable script with very minimal laughs. Gerard Butler dominates the screen time so the supporting cast all phone it in for the easy payday. The story is vomit inducing at times but I think the bonding story arc between father and son is well executed on screen and manages to carry the entire film. Gerard Butler should stick with the more action based roles because this is a massive failure.

This predictable family drama had ambitions of being a romantic comedy. And while it wasn't particularly funny or romantic, the formula was executed well enough to create a watchable film fit for daytime television.

Nothing special. Nothing disappointing. Another semi-heart-warming drama/romance. Gerard Butler plays a washed up soccer player trying to make something respectable out of his life, trying to re-unite with his estranged family.
