The Storyline was... ah... all right... The Ending was weak... Note to future filmmakers: The pivotal characters in the ending need to be the lead(s)! The climax can't be achieved through a miscellaneous character!

the central concept of this media possession and rebirth cycle was worth watching but overall execution pretty lackluster. Or maybe that's all lowered expectations from the first 15 minutes seeming like generic slashery dashery doo (times two) before shifting to a bizarre Christian Slater plotline and sticking it out to figure out wtf is going on here

"Playback posits cinema as a conduit for Satanic evil, but has nothing to say about the act of watching, except that its uniform horridness functions as an unintentional commentary on enduring pitiful horror-movie conventions." - Nick Schager

The opening story, a prologue, was very nice. It promised much for the story, but the rest of the movie fell into oblivion. Michael Nickels cannot write nor direct. Alessandra Torresani's got a brief part but raised my interest on her.

9 points for Toby Hemingway; making bad horror films hot- *cough* I mean good, since The Covenant.
