This film follows two men, the plain Herkules (Ib Schønberg) and the rich Erik (Angelo Bruun). When they were boys, Erik defended his good friend Herkules. And he never forgot that fact. Ib Schønberg is a likable tubby and sings a few catchy jingles here. But Danish film in the 1930s is something that belongs very much to that time they were made and is difficult to understand the appeal today. The productions consisted mostly of "lystspil", or light musicals of the most harmless kind. Empty, allegedly charming nonsense with barely a coherent plot. The scripts really lacked something funny. Had not Ib been there, there would have been nothing to appreciate!
