A genuinely creepy premise that is played out admirably by a not quite able cast. This is one of those movies that depresses me, because it's legitimately good and I will never, repeat, never have a conversation about it with anyone that's seen it. Oh, I could go post a review on the internet and then wait to see if anyone likes it, then send them a message and wait anxiously for a response, but I'm not that pathetic. Anybody know joseywales' phone number?

Sexually repressed teen becomes anatomically-correct medical dummy that is somehow creepier than those plasticized bodies of real Chinese homeless people sliced into 20 layers and hung next to ice cream machine at the museum near my house. Add in some light incestual themes, mommy issues, daddy issues, and a little take-out pizza, and you have the 80s in a bottle. Love it or get the fuck off my lawn.

i initially saw its reliance on teen drama and post-HALLOWEEN slasher tropes as a weakness, particularly aesthetically, but the strangeness (and believe me, this is fucking strange) wouldn't pop half as much without that bassline normality. so many scenes have lingered for me, particularly the one when he reads his incestuous poetry to his sister's new boyfriend; that's some absolutely glorious cringe. hewlett's performance is the real highlight though, there's nothing quite like it.

"Pin" is an understated horror movie taking it's scares from Hitchcockian suspense and psychological thrillers of yore. It's fun to see a young David Hewlett, and you'll be guessing until the very end. The pay off isn't awesome, but it's good enough for a low budget Canadian direct-to-video movie that no one's ever heard of. If you can find it for free, which isn't that difficult, it's not bad.

Barely released theatrically until NYC's Film Forum rescued it for a critically acclaimed two-week run in 1992. While this owes an obvious debt to Hitch's _Psycho_ (as do hundreds of other films) in its plot and antirepression sentiments, the pic still scores high marks in the suspense and originality departments.

Interesting cerebral horror / suspense. It's been done before but this ain't bad -- and it's kind of weird too!

Serviceable, unsettling "quiet" horror film. Not great but satisfying

Zero suspense, maximum bonkers. Imagine if Jeff Dunham had a more tragic childhood. PIN dares to do in almost 2 hours what we figured out in 10 minutes.

I’ve said this in about 10 reviews of horror movies but I HATE dolls and stuff of that ilk the most in horror movies. Genuinely disturbing

Fucking weird doll

Starts off good but then drags for almost an hour before picking up again for the some what underwhelming finale.

Sort of an adult Goosebumps story--in other words, it's not quite competent at being a horror but it is odd and entertaining nevertheless.

A sub-par psychological thriller with middle of the road acting that doesn't do anything particularly well.
