This movie was not as bad as I was expecting, it’s not too slow, not too annoying comic relief, there are many murders, but not very good acting overall. The ending kinda flopped but what can you look forward to in the 13th entry of a saga?

This was the first of the three PRC Philo Vance films to be shot, but the second to be released, which partly explains why William Wright was in the lead here while the first and last to be released starred Alan Curtis. Wright wasn't nearly as good as Curtis, and this mystery didn't fully come to life. Not saying it was bad. Just didn't live up to its potential. But then again, it was produced by PRC, so how much potential did it ever have?
