Considering the target audience is 250 pound black women, I suppose i'm not one to judge, but as long as there's a market we're going to keep seeing this fat/feminist empowerment crap--and it may be a reasonable statement, but it doesn't make good movies. The entire movie felt like it was made with a ten year old digital camera, by some guy who just wanted to film bad actors so he could look at Mo'nique--what a sick man that would be...

This movie had some really disturbing scenes, like the one Jazmin was destroying a doll with her face on it + her room and being all hysterical, sweating and crying. All the acting was so horrible. Pure cinema

Another movie that is just plain ol' awful. I saw it at a dollar show in Detroit, and STILL wanted my money back!

Aside from the reversal of the standard cliche (fat guy meets hot chick), this is just as superficial, predictable, and awkward as the worst romantic comedies.

If you can't lose weight then ask - why try? Other cultures might think you were hot so really it's not you that's at fault - it's everyone else! But be sure to bury the part of your mind that keeps saying "You are unhealthy" because that pushy bastard just tries to make you feel bad again, and you can't feel bad because you're Large and In Charge! Big and Beautiful! Proud, Hot And Thick! Ignore those chest pains and don't worry about the sweating when climbing the stairs - you go girl!

"God bless her soul, Mo'Nique even stays believable as the story requires her to finally fall apart and hit a new self-hating low." - Paul Schrodt

A twisted excuse for a feel-good movie.
