Here is a strange western. Originally produced as The Hawk (1931), it was bought and renamed Phantom of Santa Fe (1936), finished with added footage, off-dubbed voices and various color techniques for a Zorro-like spectacular. Well, not so spectacular. Very awkward and chopped in fact. No doubt an ambitious movie for 1931, but by the time it was ready for release in 1936 it simply wasn't looking very impressive, even with the Multicolor and Cinecolor processes.
