Petrijin venac

'Petria's Wreath' tells of a Serbian woman and her life of almost unbearable hardship, presenting her story in a style that is resolutely plain. Even when events in this story (which is based on a novel by Dragoslav Mihajlovic) are at their most crushingly sad, the film retains a simple dignity that can be quite haunting. (kg)
