Better than expected for the world building alone. intriguing and unique, and many scenes of the first half had surprising reveals on the setting. The mixture of victorian era and plenty others was amusing. Some of the side characters made one want to know more about them. The villain though ended up less interesting when it turned into infections and Twilight-like obsession with a girl, but otherwise it didn't downgrade the story too much. Low budget but okay use of what they had

A different take on the vampire genre with a 1960s steampunk style, but I couldn't help thinking of it as a poor man's Underworld.

Dieselpunk jack the ripper style manhunt with vampiric religious/political intrigue, fun ideas let down by the budget. A larger cast and longer run-time were needed to do it justice. Still, if the set-up sequel ever comes I'd give it a look.

Except for a few clever camera tricks there really isn't much going on. Ambitious over story for a low budget flick but just doesn't deliver.

Not since Bennet's vapor-induced demise in Commando has there been a slicker 'death-by-steam.' That it happened to come from a movie set in a steam-punk New Zealand is only icing on the cake. Too bad the movie is overwhelmingly yawn-inducing until the last 20 minutes or so...

A fresh take on the vampire genre. Although it's obviously made in a low budget, it's still very enjoyable, and has a very original ideas.

An original take on the vampire myth, this one gets extra points from me for its, admittedly underused, steam-driven technology. This one also has a better story than most similar fare. Recommended.

A refreshing new take on the vampire genre. The CGI and action scenes are obviously done on a lower budget but aren't bad by any stretch of the imagination. The casting is quite good and I especially enjoyed Dougray Scott as Silus. A must see if you enjoy vampire movies.
