You know it’s a low budget weird doc when In the Hall of the Mountain King starts going off. Bob Barker has a segment where he leads us into a basement room full of pet genitals and he just stands there smiling into the camera.

Trite, but interesting. It's a small documentary with a small story to tell, but it doesn't bore you and it's always a little bit satisfying to see people beat the system.

Controversies about things that ultimately don't matter and feature clever people who are involved just for the sake of it always make for fun and interesting docs. Sure its a bit to long lingering on some less interesting parts and breezes by some other interesting stuff, but its still fun.

I remember the "perfect bid" but was not aware of Slauson's role (or at least his claim of a role) behind it. His story was interesting and captured well. Barker and Dobkowitz are wasted, as they talked very little about the incident/Slauson and only spoke in general about the show. Had we heard from Drew Carey (archived interviews were included, but not a direct interview), Kathy Greco, and Terry Kniess, we could have had something great here.

This should have been condensed into a half an hour short film. Too much detail. Too much repetition.

An interesting story though most of the movie is just a lead up to the perfect bid which was only the last 20 minutes.

This documentary is odd in that it's wholesome and fun to listen to when it's about Theodore's time on the show and how he achieved his calculations, but they kind of just skim over a lot of other things especially the whole controversy surrounding Terry. The documentary doesn't give any strong implication that Theodore was actually hated by anyone despite claiming the contrary, so its focus ends up being odd. I think this docu could have benefitted from a longer run time.
