The kind of indie movie that knows it won't be super famous or gross a ton of money and doesn't care, it just wants to tell its story well.

Basically the kind of indie movie that hits all my pleasure centers. Funny with a sad, artistic protagonist going through a relatively realistic relationships. The fact that the protagonist is the talented Jemaine Clement and one of the relationships was with one of my new favorites Regina Hall only helps boost the film in my eyes. I really loved it.

Jemaine Clement's awkward shtick is so down pat that you can put him in anything and he instantly makes it better. Not that this was bad, it was actually pretty decent, but also pretty mild.

Cute little comedy about relationships and things with Jemaine Clement, the glasses guy from Flight of the Conchords (2007-2009). Simple, subtle, sweet. Wouldn't have minded another portion of this one.

I enjoyed the subtle intelligent humor & could easily sympathize with & care about the genuine character portrayed by Jemaine Clement. The lovely Regina Hall was also a nice surprise. Jessica Williams also gave a good & convincing performance. Stephanie Allynne was gorgeous but her role was limiting. There was some great subtle dialog such as "I'm just having a bad life, it will be over soon". It was entertaining to watch this low key honest character struggle with his relationships.

The kind of film one calls "charming" so as to convey that it's sweet & well-done, but not anything you're going to remember for very long. Clement's a wonderfully low-key and likeable leading man who can induce a grin from not much. If there's any knock to be made against this, it'll be from overly PC feminists who will bitch that the lead's wife was too repeatedly horrible. (And she was, but everyone on Girls is even worse & PC feminists seem to love that.)

I'll always love anything to do with a cartoonist.

A feel good movie that's a little short on the laugh factor, but I enjoyed all the cartoonin'.

This is a little gem. A nice little story. Characters with their flaws. Humor is right up my alley.

The perfect vehicle for Clement to do his thing, in many ways he carries the film. It does slip into cliché on too manny occasions, but this is often offset by Clement's comedic timing and delivery of lines.

Just a little too cringe for me to enjoy. I get the awkward character development but some of the screenplay felt forced. A few funny moments but overall, just didn't work for me.

This is a cute indie comedy which doesn't try to be much else, and that's fine. Jemaine Clement is definitely what holds this film together with his typical awkward charm, but the other performances are good, too. It was quietly funny, with some pretty amusing moments, but I still wouldn't say the screenplay was that great. So, yeah, it's nothing exceptional overall, but still a pleasant watch.
