Penthouse

A enjoyable crime movie with Warner Baxter as a lawyer who ends up playing detective to get a friend off a murder charge. And the link to solving the case is Myrna Loy. The set-up is rather standard and don't expect anything original, but it's good entertainment. The butler and the friendly gangster bring the funny side of things in between the suspense business and we get a rather satisfying finish for such a movie.

Good combo of melodrama, suspense, and humor.

A pretty fun light movie about a lawyer out to defend his friend framed by gangsters. Like in the Thin Man movies there's a nice mix of comedy and mystery though it doesn't have the spark those movies do.
